Wolves v Crystal Palace match preview

Date: Friday 8th January
Kick off: 19.45
Venue: Molineux

Game 4 of the 21-day, 6 match sequence sees Wolves welcome Crystal Palace to Molineux for their FA Cup clash and for Wolves, the first of 3 home games.

There have been many entertaining games under the Molineux lights over the years and this one promises to be added to that list.

Last season saw Palace knocked out of the competition at home by Championship side Derby County, whilst Wolves drew 1-1 at home with Manchester United only to suffer a 1-0 loss 11 days later in the replay at Old Trafford.

The last time the two sides met in the FA cup was in January/February 2010. A 2-2 draw at Molineux was followed by a 3-1 win for Palace in the replay at Selhurst Park
.
The last 5 Premier League meetings have resulted in 3 wins for Wolves, 1 draw and 1 win for Palace.

In the last week, Palace come into the game on the back of a 2-0 home win over the hapless Sheffield United whilst Wolves managed a point away to Brighton.

Wolves have 4 days to bring in a striker. Will they do it? Who knows? But this would be the ideal game to give the new man 90 minutes with his new team mates before the serious business of trying to get something from the game with Everton.

The game will be shown live on BT Sport

There has to be some doubt about the value of Cutrone to the team. He signed on loan in the summer of 2017 and scored 12 league goals in Championship that season. However all 12 of thos goals came in the first half of the season.
In the summer of 2018 his loan was made permanent. That season he scored one goal against Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup and was shipped out on loan to Nottingham Forest in January 2019.
Despite the fact that he is older and more experienced than Silva it should be borne in mind that to date, he has not scored a single goal against a Premier League team.

You sure that isn't Bonatini?

Where is Bonatini anyway? Would be be a better option than Cutrone? I personally don't think so.

I don't see Cutrone leaving again this window as I wouldn't imagine they would go through all the work up of making him come back to the UK only to go back to Italy again in a few weeks.

Bonatini is at Grasshoppers. I don't think his goalscoring record is too good there. He lacked pace too much to play in the Premier League. I would rather give Silva the game time.

Bit of a mystery I think Bonatini. Was really good for a few months then lost his way and never found his way again

Allowing for his 14 day quarantine when he leaves Italy, and the 14 day isolation period he needs when he arrives in the UK, he would have needed to have set off last week just to get here before DJ wants to send him back!!

Yes well spotted Tam. What a silly Billy I am
Cutrone joined us on a 4 year deal in the summer of 2019 and was shipped out on loan in January 2020. In his 5 months at the club he scored 3 goals, 1 in the 5-2 loss to Chelsea, 1 in the 2-0 win against West Ham and 1 in the 2-1 loss to Villa in the Carabao Cup.
Please disregard all previous garbage that I wrote about Paddy, I was getting my Italians mixed up with my Brazilians

You obviously went and did research into that Gem and yet you still managed to get them mixed up.

Bonatini often confuses himself with Cutrone from what I gather
