'Clap for Heroes' - what a waste of time

Oh great... the facking 'clap for NHS' is back, rebranded as 'clap for heroes', presumably in case anyone gets offended.

I've never seen a better demonstration of the social media generation - full of empty gestures and hypocrisy. As long as we can be seen to be showing that we care, that's all that matters, right?

Who cares about actually doing things to help, like following the rules, donating money, committing to a better lifestyle that takes the burden away from the NHS in the first place?

Nah, just clap at your front door for a few minutes and then go back to watching your telly with a takeaway on your lap.

Special mention to the prat next door to me who upgraded to saucepans and various kitchen implements, not to mention the diickheads with their car horns... it makes it really great for us parents who have just put their children down for sleep.

3 hours to go... get your saucepans and fireworks ready gents.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm going to go out with an automatic weapon and shoot anyone I see doing it over here.

I will also be sporting a "This is for Winston" T-Shirt
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you seen the temperature outside....you go put a jumper on - immediately
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the sort of caring approach that this forum needs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't see the issue it's just a nice gesture showing our appreciation for those who are doing a fantastic job under the current circumstances.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a nice gesture the first time.

But now it's been turned into an organised event and people just have to take it too far don't they?

There'll be fireworks as well of course, which will scare the dog.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
it is all about awareness of the situation and what the NHS do for you and I.

Well, the leaflet campaign worked!

Not a peep and didn’t even have to point my shotgun at anyone, let alone fire it.

It seems the great British public has realised what a facking ridiculous idea this was after all.

I know NHS workers who say it's pointless and it's just to make those who clap feel noble about themselves."ooh look at me.aren't i good, and I gave a homeless person 50p today.I'm so caring and noble.stay inside with your pots and pans and if you really want to show your appreciation, follow the rules.

Didn't hear a thing here either. It's one thing doing it on a balmy evening in April, but can we do it on a cold and dark January night? No, we cannot.

Very true!

If they didn’t do it here in North London then there’s no hope for those in Stoke.

So Winston did you catch any clap whilst out looking at the big bellends in your street?

No mate but don’t you worry, I’ll be spreading my... wings far and wide to catch it everything I can next Thursday.
