It is my understanding that #thfc are very, very close to signing a big defender.

It's not Milan Skriniar so who can't that be?

Is it Issa Diop of West Ham?

EDITED

Issa Diop link was from this morning .

Just found this now

Regardless. Cos a lot of this is ifs and buts.. how much would KWP cost in the summer assuming he keeps up reasonable form? 30-40m?

I don't think it's true to say we turned down loans for Cirkin, White and Clarke. It might be, but regardless, it doesn't follow the logic that Poch would've used of keeping everyone that might make the team. Or Sess and Skipp would still be around.

Yeah fingers crossed one or two can make the step up. Having watched White for the u23s he's my pick for now, if not for us at least at Championship level.

I’m saying poch loaned out players and kept players and so far Jose has done the same this indisputable

The one difference is Jose allowing them to keep playing academy football while they trained with the squad where poch wouldn’t.

I'm saying there's different reasons for keeping them. You don't know we turned down loans for Cirkin, White and Clarke, let alone why.

You said Poch only kept players he was excited about, and Jose is doing something similar. I don't think he is, because two of our most promising young players have been sent out on loan. Do you honestly think Poch would've loaned out Skipp and Sess? Parrott? I highly doubt it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the first two would’ve been in the squad and parrott would’ve gone on loan.

I know / read we turned down loan bids for Clarke ( someone poch loaned out straight away ).

That's fair. Though neither were good enough for the first team so they'd be getting a few Europa minutes at best.

And yeah a disastrous loan, for his mate Bielsa. Hardly a glowing example of Poch's use of loans.

But it goes against the poch doesn’t loan out and I’m not sure the blame is on poch for loaning back to the club we just bought him from otherwise we could blame Mourinho for the disastrous loan to qpr after but I wouldn’t do that.

Anyway round in circles we are going now

My final thoughts are

Poch - great at the beginning when he had a decent bunch then lost his way although the next lot weren’t that great.

Jose - Doing great at the beginning now we are starting to get another decent bunch through and hopefully he carries on.

Clarke is an exception - and it clearly was an exceptional case - which doesn't prove the rule. There's no point trying to argue that Poch didn't like loaning out his best youth players, or that it's cost us at least one first team player.

Whether it would've cost us more in time is up for debate of course. Individuals react differently, plus players can always refuse to go or fack up opportunities regardless of what the manager does.

Let's hope Levy put in a sell on clause.

MK

I think on balance they're both top coaches. While their methods are definitely different the gap between what they can get out of a squad is probably only marginal. Hopefully that fine margin gets us a trophy

This is so pointless. Unless you try and get in a world class CB like Upamecano, which is wildly unrealistic for us, I cannot see the point in signing a benched Juve player. Like others have said, we have Tanganga and Rodon, who's supposed to have huge potential. Joe needs minutes to fulfil that potential but Jose just isn't the manger to encourage that sort of thing. He's never truly nurtured young talent. So much so that he shipped out the likes of De Bruyne and Salah because apparently they weren't ready at that particular time. What makes them ready is minutes on the pitch. He's got to take the risks to see if they flourish. We have the worst manager for that sort of thing. He has his strong points but Poch wins hands down on the youth front.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem with Rodon is that he hasnt been able to play Euro or Carabao. His debut was a bit shaky and we have not really needed him since.

If Jose started him without being forced int to it by injury and he made mistakes, Jose would get slated

If he could have played in teh cups he would have had 6 or so games by now.
