After the sad news of Colin Bell.
I never saw him play myself, but I’ve never heard anyone connected with the club spoken of more fondly than Colin, so a derby win seemed fitting tonight. I’ve always had a palpable feel of how important he was to the generation of blues before mine.
Thought we looked decent again, solid in defence and with Fernandinho anchoring we broke and transitioned up the pitch much quicker than when Rodri plays. Fern really drives us out from the back, incredible range of passing and obviously, eye for a goal. If we can get more minutes out of him in that role this season we just may be in with a shout of the title.
Great to see Stones refinding the form which was essential to our most emphatic form under Guardiola, and Dias alongside looking the real deal. Good battle with Foden and AWB too.
United may have a slight advantage in the league right now, but I think tonight’s game extended beyond the league cup, and was just a little nudge to them that if they do take that top spot, we will be pushing them.
Entertaining game and a great little boost during what is a generally 5hite time at the moment! City looking good!

Be interested to see how far we can get without a striker. Few moments where there was nobody in the box when balls went in, but overall it seems pretty effective against the “bigger” sides.
Kev seems to be finding some better form now he’s pushed up too, less of the no6 duties.

I never seen a Man City side have so few shots from open play in our box. I think Man City had 0 shots in open play inside our box.

Normally City get into the box and get shots off but today one set piece goal and another set piece goal. Football is a strange game, we had plenty of shots from inside the box but failed to get the finish while Man City had 1 shot in whole game inside our box and it goes in from a guided control by Stones. Pep then looks a genius when they conceded a lot more last ditch situations.
