Maybe this a little flawed as it’s debatable if there is actually a big 6 these days. Leicester have been better than Arsenal since Rodgers has taken over and arguably better than Spurs in that period.
Having said that our record against the non traditional big 6 has been very good since Bruno signed and even better this season.
This season we have won 11 and drawn 1 (with the draw coming against against Leicester) against these teams since the Palace defeat on the opening day.
In total since the Fernandes signing we have 18 wins, 5 draws and 1 defeat in these games.
We have been the best side at beating the lesser sides this season and that’s we are top at the moment.
I’m under no illusions and I still believe that we are only the 3rd best team in the league and 3rd favourites for the title but if we keep beating these teams and can get a few results in the bigger games we could well be there or thereabouts coming up the home stretch.
Record against non big 6

You lose him for a month or so....& then we'll see
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair point and he would be a massive loss but he hasn’t played well for a few weeks now and we’ve continued to win.
We have more about us these days.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I should think he's facked...been carrying you for weeks
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At least now we have a Pogba in form and Beekers to come in

I still would have liked Van de Beek to have played more than he has. If Bruno does get an injury or something and we have to play Van de Beek, he'll still be coming in as a virtually new signing.

This was always important to our success under Ole. We had a good way of playing against the big sides but struggled against those who sat back.
If you can beat the 13-14 teams below the better sides, you'll always be there abouts come May.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The ten teams that would be expected to finish 11-20th have 60 points available from the games against them. If you can pick up 55+ it makes dropping points against top 6 less damaging.
One of the reasons Arsenal got top 4 year in year out was because the regularly steamrolled these sides picking up maximum points.
Sometimes too much emphasis is placed on the bigger games.

Not seen enough of VDB to form an opinion, but so far I'm sure he has enough to his game.
Kind of a jack of all trades but other than nice touches around the box I don't think he's done enough.

It’s actually interesting how that has changed over the last year. Previously the perceived notion was that Ole was really good against the big teams (able to set up to hit on the counter) but against the ‘lesser’ teams we struggled and couldn’t break them down. That has almost completely flipped now, we are very consistent against the ‘lesser’ teams but our record against the traditional big 6 has been very poor recently. So far this season, off the top of my head, we have played City, Spurs, Arsenal, and Chelsea all at home and only picked up 2 points. But as someone others have pointed out, sometimes the importance of these big games are over hyped, there are 14 other teams outside the other 5 big 6, that’s 28 games against 10. It’s almost more important to be ruthless against them and then hope to pick up as much as you can in the 10 big 6 games.

I think the games against the bigger sides can lay down a marker if you win them as much as anything. Ideally of course you want to be good against every type of side

I think we still have been good in the big games this season but teams have just parked the bus against us to make the games boring. Chelsea home and Leicester away we were by far the better team, Man City home game was close in the league, Tottenham game the red card ruined it really and we conceded a lot of ridiculous goals.

I agree that we would have been good if we hadn't have been bad.

could this game actually live up to the hype and be an entertaining game? hoping utd come to play but more likely give up the ball 73% of the game and try to hit on the counter.
