Avram Grant back to Chelsea

You know things are bad when this is the plan to save our season

I saw something yesterday, worrying about this link, where in his own words Grant said he believes his skills lay in the dressing room as a motivational presence (as opposed to in a boardroom).

Translation: ten Cate & Clarke were the actual brains behind all the relevant stuff, like tactics, that season

They were Mourinhho’s assistants weren’t they? They just needed to stick with the blueprint. Whilst Cech, Terry, Lampard and Drogba actually managed the team. Grant probably just asked them the starting lineups and wrote it on the board.

Clarke yes. ten Cate was Rijkaard's #2 at Barcelona, and history makes him look damn good on that score too

We should've kept him.

Was probably the best Chelsea team of the Roman era. They were just unfortunate that they came up against the best Man United side of the prem era at the same time. Fantastic achievement to push us so close. Avram Grant.

I think it was an Emile Heskey late equaliser at Stamford bridge that cost us the league that year. We really should have won the title despite how good united were.

would be a huge step up.

I reckon Avram Grant was unlucky.

Jose jumped ship with the next match being v Man Utd, losing 3-1.

Think Man U won the league by a few points only, if that result was reversed Chelsea would be champions.

He's only managed about 50 matches in the past decade.

He was probably very knowledgeable in the noughties but you've got to wonder what exactly he could bring to the set up now. Like anything, management is a skill which you need to keep your hand in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he's only helping though, assisting, then there may be a good amount of knowledge Lampard doesn't have, or wouldn't have learned doing his badges, and probably won't ever bother to learn in the future. Some of that may be useful in certain circumstances he might come to face.

i agree with this.

can only be a good thing i reckon
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. He's not been appointed manager so could be a shrewd move. That's from a West ham fan who knows how useless he is as a manager

The only relevant knowledge Grant could share with Lampard is how to con your way into jobs you don't deserve, and to be blunt Lampard's shown great promise in that area at his young age already

Grant's "wisdom" is completely redundant to him.
