Paying the price for Tierney in the FA Cup๐Ÿ˜

We have one left back in the squad and heโ€™s in red hot form, so we play him in the inconsequential FA Cup (in my opinion this season) and have AMN forced to put in a shift at left back in the Premier League. ๐Ÿ™„

AMN fully deserved a start (I would have played him in place of Xhaka , his preferred position) but he is simply not a left back and in a relatively lack lustre performance the absence of Tierney was MASSIVE...๐Ÿ˜

Can you not win without Tierney?

Kept a clean sheet without him, surely he can’t be the only driving force in your attack and without your first choice left back you fail to score vs a side like Palace?

Doesn't look like it on tonight's evidence. Looked totally lopsided and unbalanced without him. Which says a lot really.

I would have thrown the cup game if it meant we’d pick up 6pts in the league against palace and Newcastle

All very well moaning about Tierney’s absence tonight, but I’m damn sure there’d have been just as many complaints had he been rested on Saturday, and we’d not won that match.

As for Ainsley, the club need to seriously start thinking about what we can get for him next summer. And as a fan base we need to put to bed the notion of him playing as a CM for Arsenal.

Wenger played him there once, that I can remember. Emery not at all, and Arteta to occasionally fill in minutes at the ends of games.

His best form for us was last season playing as LWB. At RB he’s put in the level of performances that would have people baying blood were it Bellerin.

So not a RB, definitely not a LB or CM, meaning his best position is now redundant since we’ve changed formation.

I really really like the guy, but man, do I wish we’d sold him last summer instead of Emi.

Tierney should have been tested ages ago. You could see he was spent 70 mins into that first win last week. We're lucky he never pulled/strained something. AMN had the same "I'm sick of this sh !t" look about him he had most of last season. Definitely not s happy camper. He done the job but didn't look that interested in performing. Can't say I blame him, I think he's done with Arteta and his crap.

Agree with the OP, he should have been played in MF, though I'd have played him with Xhaka and left out Ceballos. All he does is moan loads and dive this season. Clearly psd he's not been given the No 10 spot. Arteta's clueless or just too in love with certain players and hateful of others.

And in terms of player health, the man's downright dangerous. "Skate on the really thin ice" approach

Squad rotation is a tricky one when you look for momentum.
Having said that, it is unrealistic to rely on our subs to come in and have an impact if they hardly play and lack match fitness.
It is a difficult one to balance but I guess that is why manager get pay that much.

Yep and Arteta just seems to keep demonstrating, he isn't ready to be getting the big decisions money just yet.
