Fikayo Tomori

One of our main central defensive woes has been the lack of pace. So my question is, why on earth is the club bent on selling the one player who's endowed with such natural recovery pace? Granted, he could well be pushing for a move but how on earth is Christensen preferred over him? Christensen gets injured when a ball accidentally hits his leg for God's sake! Chelsea will be making a GRAVE mistake if Tomori is sold.

The latest rumour which does seem to be quite legit is him to Milan, on a loan to buy option.

Yeah I’m not sure quite how it seems to be ending like this considering the guy literally started as one of Lampard’s starters with us.

We did not treat him well at all last summer in my opinion. I can get the fact that, with the addition of Thiago, we had five CBs and it would not be possible to play them all. But why we did not plan adequately for Tomori to get a decent loan is beyond me.

By most accounts it seems we basically just beat around the bush and/or did not plan correctly rather than just being authoritative and giving the guy a loan. He had many offers and would have been quite easy to organise a loan where he could play regularly in a top 5 league.

Instead first it looked like Rudiger would be sold so we would have four CBs. Then Rudiger wasn’t going to get sold. Then, with loans on the table there was the potential for Tomori to go on loan. But the club reassured Tomori of gametime and they came to a joint decision for him to stay. For what? We had five CBs and ifLampard knew in his mind Tomori was gunna be fifth choice than, as I tried to imply just plan well, don’t beat around the bush, organise a loan for him from the off.

So yeah we did him a bit dirty, he’s wasted months of his development and I’m not surprised he’s now being linked with a move away. I like him, he’s a good prospect, would be sad to see him go. Not sure if he’ll be a world beater but definitely could supplement the squad at bare minimum just as Mount, Abraham and CHO have shown.

The only things I’ll say in defence/otherwise to the sale is we do have other maybe similarly talented CB prospects around (T.Chalobah, Ampadu, Guehi, Mbuyamba, Sarr) and £30m for him is a decent amount of money for fifth choice CB.

I couldn't have said it any better, Stretchy . Planning at both managerial and board level has always been a perennial problem. Tomori could have easily gone out on loan to West Ham or Fulham even, and would have had a decent number of games this season.

Besides, I believe he could've been given a shot at right-back. Azpi has unfortunately lost his pace and Tomori could have been a good understudy in cup games at least.

Tomori is actually the fastest. Not sure why he's not been playing more, certainly better suited for the epl than Christensen.
