Thoughts from today

When you hear opponents not won in 9 games, you just know what will happen to Leeds.

When opponents go 1-0 up and you hear they can't hold ton a lead, you know what will happen.

Really poor performance from Leeds, absolutely no attacking threat with 0 shots on target by half time.

Defence almost completely absent for the Brighton goal, Dallas not tracking his runner, Ayling completely gone.

Struijk a shadow of what Philips offers in midfield, no surging runs from Ayling, absolutely pointless balls into box straight to Brighton players from Dallas and Bamford hardly touched the ball at all.

No subs at half time, looked a little better, but needed Roberts coming on to show some sort of energy.

Talking of energy, every time Brighton attacked, half the team just left our defence to it, long gone are the days when you'd have 6/7 players chasing back, I don;'t know if players cream crackered or different tactics, but slow to chase back and slow to attack.

The pitch could be a factor in sapping energy, but whatever it is, something is seriously off and one wonders if something going on behind scenes at club has affected something, because this is a completely different team to that which we saw a month ago.

The performance today, as with Crawley, is so lacklustre that one wonders what Radrizzani, with in reality his lack of knowledge and experience in football, is thinking?

What is AR thinking when 22m Raphinia is hauled off to be replaced by Poveda?

What does it say about our record signings that they are both unable to last a game.....by now we should be seeing more influence from them.

Every season we lose early in the cups every season we then experience bad form, every next season we go out of cups early again and every time fans don't see a connection between cup exit and bad form, but this is so poor and must dent morale, which is doubly hard to get back when you are being pushed so hard in training and can't see any respite and the small squad doesn't offer too much of a way out at present.

Beckford sums it up well saying he expected a reaction to Crawley game, but was surprised and disappointed.

Really disappointed in this performance today, its teams like these that we should be taking points off.

I think our top 4 ambitions ended today

Our Championship-winning side will always hold a special place in our hearts but times move on. I’ll be particularly sad knowing it’ll be a long time before we have another side with the same camaraderie and who the fans have the same affection for.

I know we have been unlucky with injuries but I do think not getting White from Brighton has not only weakened us but messed up the changing room dynamics and camaraderie. It doesn't quite feel the same close knit bunch of players we had last season with his absence.
Even Bielsa seems more rattled than usual.

What was most disappointing was not losing 1-0 to Brighton, who are a very good side, particularly in defence, but the players not really showing up. We were utterly rubbish today in all departments.

Agreed Jonty, it certainly does make you wonder if something's going on at ER behind the scenes.

Rodrigo is worrying me. Think that spell out with covid came at worst time just when he was coming good.

Roberts showed a bit more today. Probably need better but he did OK today when he came on.

Overall too many players playing out of position and we are losing our fluency. Get Phillips back get Llorente at centre back and Ayling back to right and we will alright again.

Thought roberts was our best player after he came on.

Considering the goal, and how he played when he was moved to rightback id imagine ayling will be back there next game.

That will help on the right and dallas is a better defender than alioski.

Didn't think Struijk did too badly once he was moved to centreback but he dosent have the passing needed to play the phillips role.

I like the look of him, but not in midfield.

At over 100k per week, I'm sure there are plenty of others worried Rob. Of the 4 new major signings, he as of now is the most disappointing, he's no midfielder so play him as a striker or don't. Raphinha is a luxury player, wouldn't look out of place at Chelsea or City, but we don't have the quality around him...I think he has to do more. Llorente can't be judged on one game, and Koch was settling in nicely until injury, but he's no Ben White!

What was the idea behind switching sides for Harrison and Raphinha I wonder?

Seemed strange not to play both where they've been so effective recently.

Biejsa said it was specifically for Brighton and their setup.

He made a mistake from my point of view. Let them worry about us not the other way.

Raphinha and Harrison are much more of a threat on their respective best wings.

Maybe he’s overthinking things?

I’ll let him off this time though
