Chorley v Wolves match preview

Date: Friday January 22nd
Kick off: 19.45
Venue: Victory Park

On Friday Nuno will take the wolfpack north to Lancashire to face the other Magpies for their meeting in the 4th round of the FA Cup.
Wolves have the second chance in a week to make amends for a loss at a previous meeting having failed to do so against West Brom on Saturday.

The teams have met before in the FA Cup but on that occasion it was in the first round. On November 15th 1986 they played at Burnden Park in Bolton, the result was a 1-1 draw. Three days later they met again at Molineux for the replay where the outcome was again a 1-1 draw. A return to Burnden Park 6 days later for the second replay resulted in a 3-0 win for Chorley. At that time Wolves were playing in the 4th tier of the football league.

Chorley play in the National League North where they currently occupy 9th place, 111 places lower than Wolves who have slumped to 14th place after a series of disappointing performances.

Jamie Vermiglio’s side came though the third round of the competition by virtue of a 2-0 home win over Derby County and with Wolves’ current form it would be a brave Wolves fan who would place a sizeable bet on a win for his side.

The game will be shown live on BT Sport 1

Gem’s prediction 1-2

we have to beat Chorley and handsomely not sure our morale can take a scrappy 1-0

Balderdash my good sir - a 1-0 win with the goal being deflected off the refs arzhole will do.

I see our old friend Mick is due to take over as manager of Cardiff

And I’m sure Mick will do a good job there. What odds on TC being his assistant

I agree with you tino but frankly I’d be happy just to get to the next round. Banana skins don’t come much bigger than this

To be fair, the size of a banana skin makes little to no difference really. It's the how slippery they are that matters.

If W2lv3s don't win by a 5 goal margin then Nunu has to go!

2 of 3 goals for us today. Pitch is gonna be pretty awful so I would like to think we will start Cutrone for his bulk as much as anything as it won't be pretty at times. Silva could get mauled out there.

sodden pitches are great levellers...but it's the same pitch for both sides. whilst i want to see some of the youngsters play, we have to do the right things and win the game

I’d take 1-0 in the 93 min

But

I like the drama and don’t give a feck about the cup
