Fixture list order

Something that has slightly irked me for a while now regarding the fixture lists is why don't the 2nd round of fixtures mirror the 1st round? For example, Leeds played Liverpool in gameweek 1, so why don't Leeds play Liverpool at home in gameweek 20. I genuinely can't work out why football doesn't play out like that, surely it would be the fairest possible fixture list? I'm aware of partner clubs having to play separately i.e Man U and Man C both can't play at home, but a mirrored fixture list wouldn't cause any issues there, so what is it?
Leeds played Newcastle over the Christmas holiday yet we play them next, we've only played WBA, Spurs, Burnley, Brighton and Saints (P) since playing Newcastle, not that that's a bad thing atm. As far as I'm concerned, Leeds should play Southampton next, before playing Liverpool at ER with Southampton away last.

Please enlighten

My guess it’s the TV schedules play a huge part 👍

Always been that way since the year dot. I remember in the 1965-66 season we played Liverpool away on 27th Dec, and then played them at home on the 28th. Can you imagine the players today coping with that.

there will be so many reasons why this cannot happen.

Fixtures have to take into account lots of events outside of football and clashes with other home teams in close vicinity etc.

I would prefer it if it was possible though

We have to play everyone twice, doesn't matter when we play the fixtures. More a case of fitting them all in this year. No surprise we played Liverpool twice in a couple of days back in the day, Hardaker would have made us play five times every day if he could to prevent us from winning anything.

The factors which have to be taken into account at senior level aren’t important at Under-23 level, hence the latter’s games are played exactly as would be your preference, the home and away fixture list mirrored for the from the first to the second half of the season.
