Good Morning, Smid here. Hope no one minds me popping back in, I promise I'm not making a permanent return and it has nothing to do with Rangers being in the ascendency. I just fancied a bit of football chat - since March last year with everything closed I've just had my gf for company and she's now at the end of her tether with me walking around singing "he's a buffalo soldier..."
Just thought I'd see what people think is behind Rangers resurgence this season? A lot of the narrative is about how bad Celtic have been and how they have blown it etc, which frustrates me a little as I think it discredits how good we have been. I can't remember the last Rangers team with our record at this stage. If we do win it - and I'm not making that assumption yet - it's because going unbeaten and winning 21/24 games to date is generally considered title winning form. In fact if we won yesterday it would have been our longest winning run in the league since the 70s which tells it's own story - essentially even the great teams of 9 in a row & Advocaat eras didn't see us hit the same levels.
Anyway I'm currently limited by the spam filter so have put a few things I put the form this season (so far) down to in the first comment.

It's got to the ridiculous point where the government may need to make a statement clarifying that COVID is not a global conspiracy to stop the 10.

Celtic already tried to replace him in November but no one they went for wanted it. Why would they to be fair?
You're taking over a squad already significantly behind, with no transfer window for a couple of months and knowing 4 of your better players are leaving. You also know if you don't turn it round its your name as the guy in charge when the first title in 10 years was lost, doesnt matter what you inherited.
Any Manager with an interest in the job will be quite happy to wait it out until the end of the season with a fresh start. Rangers have found that out to our cost in recent years as well, hence ending up with Murty twice.
