Are We Better.......

If Dele Leaves and Eriksen comes back (Seems to be the case if you believe the press)

Both have been great in their time at spurs and both have had a shocking 18 month fall from grace.

I’m not sure but the reality is we are talking about a player who can barely make a League cup starting 11 in Dele. Whatever he did and whatever his potential.... this is his current reality

Assuming Jose is going nowhere..... would think Eriksen is more his “type" than Dele.... More reliable/disciplined, works hard & based on the idea we need more than just NDombele for MF creativity.... might work out OK

What say you

Dropped 10 from winning positions I think. That’s not good at all. Even half of them converted into wins and we’d be well in it

Makes you sick doesn’t it.

It does and it’s gutting, but look on the other side of the coin, we are 8 points better off this same time last season. Those ridiculous draws we should of won would of put us comfortably top. It’s Spurs though and it’s what we do.

Not for me I dont want him back and dont think Jose will either.

Jose loves players who work and tackle to win the ball back so why would he want Eriksen who shirks tackles left right and centre.

For the sort of money Eriksen would want there must be better out there.

And before you all jump up and down and scream at me about his talent, I wont argue against Eriksen who has fantastic ability but he has no heart and no bottle and for me thats a big no.

Would be the team I’d want to see if this happened. If it doesn’t happen, I’d want to see that same team but with Dele or GLC in Eriksens position. What I don’t want to see, except for against the very best oppo or when we’re closing games out, is Sissoko, Winks and PEH all on the same pitch.

I have mixed feeling about CE coming back as it means bringing back another older, of form player hoping they can rekindle some long lost magic - a strategy than rarely works. But as someone said above, swapping him for Dele is essentially gaining a player as Dele can’t even get in the squad now. So on that basis I’d say fack it, he’s a creator of chances - if we could get him on loan and see what he can do it might not be a bad thing.

Worryingly for me Winks also can’t get in the squad, but Gedson can. And, Toby has been behind Sanchez and Roden in the last 2 PL games. I’m concerned about what is going on behind the scenes and some of Jose’s decision making which is starting to get, frankly, bizarre.

The frustration is that this league is wide open and if we’d had the gumption to consolidate some of those leads we’d had instead of trying to defend them for dear life we could be top of the table. We don’t have enough talent in the squad to do a City/Liverpool and accurately 95+ points. But that’s not gonna be needed this year, probably looking at 80-85 and we do have the talent to get to that level if it was used correctly. Problem is that now with so many stupidly dropped points the chance has come and gone, and a dogfight for top 4 is all we have to look forward to.

Everyone seems to have lost sight of the fact that this would be a loan if anything at all. Try before you buy on a player that's proven in the league, is in the top 5 assist makers of the last 7 years and would know the game of each player in our current squad. I find it weird that there are supporters that wouldn't take a punt on that.

The alternative is someone untested in the Prem with no real pedigree at the price range we can afford. Eriksen is the best we can get, and one thing we have on our side, it sounds like he wants back in.

If we don't get him he could end up at United or Arsenal and the latter fills me with dread.

Strange one if it happens as on the face of it seems like a fairly good deal if its a loan and Inter pay 30%+ of his wages.
Will always love Eriksen an absolute assist machine in his prime the trouble is that was 3 years ago. Conte is of the same mould as Jose so not sure how that pans out but presume Jose is pushing for this deal.

Fitness also a concern as he has hardly played and only half the season left (plenty of games though).
I suppose if Dele is out then its a player that can fit in quickly (fitness permitting)

The 18/19 season so 6 months before he left was his best season with us. 27 goal contributions ( 10 goals & 17 assists ).

Eriksen was always one of the hardest working players, fair enough he did shirk a tackle, but he is an intelligent footballer and was very clever in his pressing and cutting off the oppositions passing. He did a lot of hard work that went unnoticed by most, he wasn`t at the top of the running stats for nothing.

When Eriksen left the team, the drop off in our ability to play quick passing football was there for all to see, he made us tick and our team is still lacking a player like that now.

Having cloggers like Sissoko as the first name on the team sheet will get us nowhere.

I don't think we'll get Eriksen back seeing as Inter don't seem keen to negotiate. First Skriniar, now the loan fee which apparently only applies to us. Even if we do he'll not be properly match fit anyway.

If Dele goes it's because he doesn't want to fight for his place. I don't see the point in a loan in that case. We either sell or have a sale agreed in the deal. Buy someone better with the money.

Who could blame Dele for not wanting to fight for his place, he has probably been trying that all season and got nowhere, while at the same time he sees unproductive dross getting undeserved starts ahead of him, there is now wonder he will have lost all desire to fight.

Dele does not fit with Mourinho`s brand of football, he wants him out so he can bring in a more defensive player, it`s as simple as that. All this nonsense about earning your place in the team is just a smokescreen, there are several other players who have not earned a place in the team and yet they continue to be picked, some of them even broke covid rules and they are still picked, which is hardly consistent or fair.
