1 up top

When playing against 3 central defenders, Bamford's effectiveness is nullified.

Can we tweak our system to play 2 up top when playing v 3 CBs?

Can Rodrigo move further upfield?

If we're ineffective at present then nothing lost if we trying something slightly different.

Feel for Bamford, seems more often than not he’s the only one pressing. Can Rodrigo (please someone tell me he’s not on 105k a week) be more effective moving forward or even switching roles with Bamford...like you said Jonty nothing to lose in trying.

Ive thought about this could do a 343 type formation with Raph and Rodrigo up top with Bamford

Could do with another natural cm though dor that

I think if you actually play ayling as a rightback he gets forward enough to allow raph and rod to move further central and support the attack.

Ayling is important to our attack as he frees up other players.

Id like to see

433

Meslier

Ayling--Cooper--Llorente--Alioski

Dallas--Phillips--Klich

Raphina--Bamford--Rodrigo

Add De Paul and we'll smoke a few more sides next season.

I do like the look of that in terms of personnel but wouldn't the formation just end up being similar to the 4141 we're currently playing?

Presumably Phillips would anchor that midfield 3 with Dallas and Klich being more progressive, with Raph and Rodders being the wide men. Sort of how we line up now.

Yeah its similar, just none of that 33311 stuff or whatever it is. Basic simple old school 433 for me.

Yep. Hard to disagree with that.

I saw someone mention earlier on a YouTube live chat the possibility of playing a 343 similar to Arsenal and England. It got me thinking and I came up with a lineup of...

-----------------Meslier

---Llorente---Koch---Cooper

Ayling--- Klich---Phillips---Harrison

-------Raph---Bamford---Rodrigo

Ayling and Harrison providing the width with defensive duties. Raph and Rodders coming narrow in behind the opposition midfield, sniffing around Bamford and always showing for the ball. The only thing I'm not sure about is Phillips in a double pivot - I think you lose a lot of his ability when he's not anchoring.

What you think?

Thats kind of what i thought. Although i think we would need another cm and probably a good left wing back to make it work.

going to be a bit against the grain a bit I think..

my first thought is no, we shouldn't change our system at all.. we need to cross better and supply the front man more effectively.

the amount of balls into the box that we waste is shocking sometimes
