News on the pitch

Looks like we're taking some emergency action with the pitch:

Even if it doesn't take, I reckon we've nothing to lose. The condition of the playing surface was going to cost us loads of points as it was.

I reckon the Brighton game was 3 points lost to it (not trying to disrespect Brighton there, but we were really off our usual game).

Having reread it, it does say potential 'injuries due to it' and fielding less able players would definitely not help the cause.

My biggest concern of it is right is why are we prepared to risk 125m squad on an unsafe pitch for the sake of haggling over £50k for three weeks.......and then the 49ers paid for it. Sounds like we are skint until we are safe from relegation this season!

If that voice note is true then it's a huge worry.

But that voice note could have been anyone making it up.

The story does not make sense. As Kebab states above.

But that's why if it is true then we must be in huge trouble.

Has anyone got any idea who said it and any evidence to suggest it's true from the club?

Jonty, you say that you have heard it's about right... from who and which bit is right?

There's a lot of speculation on this thread. It's a big jump to go from Leeds negotiated a price to Leeds are skint, and Bielsa was angry about the pitch to there are issues between the owner and manager.

It's understandable the club were reluctant to spend £300k on a temporary surface when they are going to redo it in the summer. The pitch was awful the last game but without a doubt the snow exacerbated the situation and they had to act. This became a more pressing issue very quickly as we had won the previous 2 home games. As for the 49ers paying for it...there could be any number of reasons they paid for it (if they actually did). They own 25% of the club.

The way I see it - manager asked for a new surface and he got one. Great news they have found a solution.

It's Tottenham's future turf, we're effectively paying 300k to dig it up at use it at ER. Needed doing though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It seems it was reserved by them and not now needed. I think we actually bought it from the supplier not Spurs but of course the newspapers love a story.

Whatever it is needed by us. I noticed a few times against Brighton where players pulled up trying not to slip and injure themselves.

Makes you wonder if it’s worthwhile checking where our injuries have come from this season. Have players been injured at ER or on our travels?

Just been sent something over whatsapp regarding the pitch.

Apparently Bielsa is "doing his nut" over the pitch
and the players also.
Cooper took Radz onto the pitch and told him it was dangerous and theyre going to lose players.
Bielsa has told Radz if we dont sort the pitch we will get relegated because we wont get another point at home.
Radz has been negotiating with Spurs for 3 weeks who wanted 380k for the pitch and eventually the 49ers have paid 340k to get it.

No idea whether this is true but none of it sounds good!!

Well as I said above. Newspaper story says Spurs had reserved the turf but do not now need it. I’m not sure why we would be negotiating a price with them if it’s just reserved.

‘Leeds have been searching for solutions. And they have now agreed a deal with a turf farm company to bring in a new pitch, which had been earmarked for Spurs. Thanks to a lack of NFL fixtures this season at Tottenham's new stadium, the north London club has agreed to instead let the surface head to Yorkshire.’

The whatsapp voice note does seem like a fabrication.

Doesn't make sense. Doesn't correspond with the actions the owner has made or the suport he has provided to Bielsa.

And most of all I cannot imagine Bielsa making the claim he will have to resort to long ball football and we will get relegated. Not a chance he said that.

Not seen anyone provide any evidence that confirms the story either.

"Today's Under-23 fixture between Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers has been called off following a pitch inspection at St George's Park."

A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.
