Most disappointing team so far in the PL

5

Liverpool

Yes they have been unlucky with injury problems but they’ll still be disappointed with how it’s gone especially in the last 5 games. VVD is obviously a huge loss but arguably not as big a loss as Jota is. There have been times when I have thought they would walk the league after early impressive wins Chelsea & Arsenal. Also when they got the late winner vs Spurs followed by the 7-0 against Palace again you felt it could be a long season for the rest of us. They are only 6 points back and could make us eat our words but their away form for the last year or so suggests otherwise.

Chelsea

Been a bit of a disaster tbh. 220 million spent on which was already a good squad and sitting in 8th. The attacking signings haven’t settled and despite initial promise Mendy doesn’t look all that in goal either. Thiago Silva has been decent but they still concede plenty on the road. Lampard needs a few results quickly and he’ll be out imo. He’s underachieving.

3

Arsenal

It’s been better lately and signs are positive but they’ll still be very disappointed overall. I think getting rid of Ozil and his lingering shadow is a big thing for them and they will have a better 2nd half to the season imo but so far hasn’t been good enough for a club like Arsenal.

2

Wolves

They’ve deteriorated a lot this season. They’ve arguably overachieved with back to back 7th place finishes since promotion. I say arguably cos many promoted teams can not go out and sign players like Rui Patricio & Moutinho like they did. This season they sit 14th. Although I think they will be more than good enough to stay out of the relegation battle they will still be peering over their shoulder. Chelsea vs Wolves next. A bad result means big trouble for either side. Can’t remember who it was but I’m still amused at the Wolves on here who said they were the 2nd side in the league when at their best

Sheffield Utd

As so often happens when unfancied sides overachieve after promotion there is a serious drop off the next season although few would have predicted it would this bad. They are in danger of having one of the worst PL points totals. When I watch them they don’t look particularly bad but lack quality in attack and Brewster hasn’t worked out so far.

probably chelsea. some tipped them for the title or at least top 2 or 3 before season started. i mean could still happen but yeah.

Gone for Chelsea - Lampards been in a year now and just spent a lot of money, they should be doing much better.

Liverpool were always gonna drop off eventually and mixed with injuries to Jota and VVD it makes sense. Arsenal just don't have a great squad and in rebuild. Similarly SU have a Championship squad. Wolves is kinda sad cos of the fractured skull

SU for me, as though I expected them to struggle, they've had an absolute nightmare. Chelsea would be a close second. Then maybe Liverpool, but both they and Wolves have lost my their key players, so maybe not that surprising. Didn't expect much from Arsenal tbh so they've only slightly underachieved imo

Pool are missing Michael Oliverpool, there was a time when he was in charge of around a quarter of their games, and the results were there for all to see. Of late, Oliverpool has not been in charge of anywhere near as many Pool games, hence the results.

Chelsea without a doubt.

Much better than the position they occupy.

From the beginning of the season, it looked like the outcome of the league should have been something like city, Chelsea and then united.

As for Liverpool, they have carried some of that over-achievement from last season, but they are only really a 4th/5th placed squad. So they have, inevitably, rediscovered their true position.

easily liverpool. lots of injuries but that's not why they're losing. their front 3 needed a goal a game between them against weak opponents to be be out front. they didn't come close. lots of people saying chelsea, but they changed a lot of players and have no manager.

It's Chelsea because they bought Werner, Havertz and the lad from Ajax and were talked up as title contenders, when in fact they're even more bobbins than they used to be.

Yeah, that's kind of a given though. We're all delighted Liverpool are doing their best Leicester title defense impersonation and Chelsea are pooop, but they still count as disappointments
