Shame really, given his previous track record but the Board need to act

My earlier remark is not trying to ignore the facts that Silver posted. You can't deny these.

I was looking more in how it felt for me as a Rangers supporter living through the Stein, Smith and Lennon eras.

My comparison wasn't who's 9 was the best. I think Steins being the first and done with the the squads he had was the best. Rangers had strong squads during the Stein 9.

Celtic ran Rangers very close on a few occasions through Smiths or Rangers 9 if you want to be pedantic about it. Celtic did have good squads during that period too and as I had said it was great equalling 9 in a row.

The recent 9 is always an achievement and I know you can only beat what's in front of you. Celtic have really only been challenged for half a season last season and I think if we can agree that most if not all on here had them a stick on for the 10.
Celtic have really only challenged Rangers in the new year old firm. Its the reason why I think lennon has lost the 10. His team should have put more pressure on Rangers throughout the season. We will never know how Rangers would have reacted to a sustained and close challenge.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Stein's 9inarow was the most difficult.

Smith's was easy - Unlimited funds / Celtic dark days

Ronnie/Lennon/BR - In the middle, Aberdeen and Hibs pushed us hard.

Churlish argument
But let me join in
Rangers certainly had the financial advantage over Celtic in the 90s
But Celtic also spent a right few quid

In recent times and for Celtics 9 Motherwell Aberdeen were second at times
Clubs with income less than 10% of celtics

Home many single figure point differentials were their
Celtic tanked those 9 titles by huge margins

None of that proves anything mind you

Indeed, Hearts & Hibs proved that in 2015.

Aberdeen in 2017 & 2018.
Hearts in 2006
Motherwell & Hibs in 1995
Motherwell & Aberdeen in 1994
Aberdeen in 1993
Hearts in 1992
...

5 occasions this millenium so an every 4 year event on average. Much more so before that. It is why 9iar is so hard even with the £ advantage.

Ultimately the team winning the league will have had a financial advantage and be able to buy and pay the best players or why else do it
Coaching tactics etc come in to it but money is the key

When the playing field was level or closer to being great coaches were more successful fergie and mcclean

But nobody beyond Rangers and Celtic have come even close to winning it since the 80s
Yes their have been seasons where they have come second
Hearts were the last I can remember getting near

Were any of the other seasons you point out actually close at the end ?

Tremendous work

Frank Carson would have been proud of that as a one liner......
