I suspect that the Mirror's chief football writer has been had here. Likely saw the fake letter and didn't make the 1872 connection as he has barely heard of Celtic or Rangers

Maybe Benitez is ready to move into the DoF role and a younger first team coach could come in?

He’s a good player but he’s hardly looked like a £20m striker this season never mind £35m.

I think most will accept that Edouard hasn’t looked the £35m player because he wanted out. He’s lost interest and had done some time ago.

Most clubs and coaches will realise he’s not displaying what he’s capable of and the moneyed EPL will cough up if they want someone. Tierney being a prime example who when he moved had all the signs of player burn out and indeed suffered a lengthy time out before being able to get into the Arsenal side. Now he’s a huge miss when he’s not playing for them.

I don’t think Edouard has shown anywhere near enough over the piece to be priced at that level.

Even after a hot season in Scotland £25m would be a good number in Covid times.

I suppose it’s daft EPL money but whatever is behind it, his ability to blow hot and cold, even in the Scottish Prem, would put a massive question mark against him.

£35m would be top dollar in normal times imo. But for a striker having a poor season during Covid times?

Bite their arm off if they get anywhere near that figure.

I’d say anything over £20m is a good deal in the current circumstances for Edouard.

Benitez would be crazy to come to Celtic. There are / will be several opportunities "south of the border", where he has akready managed.

Benitez has already stated the reason he quit the club in China was so he could spend some more time with his family....so it would appear he is not looking to take any job on
