As poor as it gets

Four players stood out with hoe bad they were. Martial, De Gea, Telles and Tuanzebe.

Martial - looks like he shirks any kind of competition for his place in the team. We saw it when Zlatan was signed and when Lukaku was signed. With Cavani showing him what a real no. 9 can do he looks a shadow of the player he was last year. If a player can't handle a bit of competition then I'm afraid he's not right for where we want to be.

Tuanzebe - Hope his is just a blip for him but he's been really poor the last few times he's been given a chance. Should have cleared the corner for their first goal.

Telles - His signing has seems to have lit a fire underneath Luke Shaw so I guess that's one positive. Left Burke completely free to shoot for their second.

De Gea - again at crucial moments has cost us silly goals. The defending and his "clearance" for the second goal was farcical. He was fouled though by sharp for their first.

Special mentions too for Rashford and Bruno who were extremely wasteful.

Really disappointing result and an in form Arsenal side on Saturday. Need a reaction

It was a bad night all around. The starting 11 was more than good enough to beat Sheff Utd though. Which players of theirs would you take? None.

We had a huge mentally and physically challenging win over Liverpool and Ole clearly had one eye on Arsenal at the weekend too.

He gambled we'd have enough to beat them with making 6 changes and the players let him down massively.

Can we include Matic in this list? A lot of players were culpable for that second goal but he and Telles in particular looked like they had a bet on for Sheffield United to win. It was like one of those funny amateur football compilations you see on YouTube.

Tuanzebe is rubbish, i've seen him a few times and he always makes a mistake.

Martial has a weak mentality and isn't a no 9, De Gea is capable of great saves but equally capable of letting in howlers.

Telles i've not seen enough of yet.

Arsenal could completely end this period of relative positivity from United supporters. Gonna be a good game.

These are the moments where a team shows their true colours. If we pick ourselves up and go beat Arsenal then we can put last night down to a blip.

It's not how you lose but how you respond to a defeat that defines a top team. Ole has to get the team right and make sure they are at it from the off at the weekend if we are then Arsenal are going to have to play very verybwell to get anything.

Ole made the wrong sub in my opinion. He should have taken Martial off instead of Greenwood.
Martial was kept and occupied the left wing, so we sacrificed Rashford's position.

So disappointed by the lack of effort of the whole team.

You can’t say ‘hoe’ anymore ... 😁

‘Lit a fire underneath ‘ is top of the cliche charts today.

75% of that is right - which, for a forum such as this, isn't bad.

However, I would exchange martial in that list for rashford. Martial is clearly not a centre forward, but makes a very useful winger. Rashford, in contrast, is an absolute nothing player.

But yes, telles, tuanzebe, are not good enough, and Coco de gea has ALWAYS been the kind of player that guarantees that ever winning this league is a non-starter - I've made that very clear at EVERY stage of his presence at the club (we all know 2013 was an anomaly).

You can't win any league without a striker/centre forward.

You can't win any league without a proper goalkeeper.

And any club would also be struggling if the only partners for Maguire were as poor as Bailly and/or Lindelof

United have great midfield options. But that is wasted if there is only one, albeit intelligent, high quality, but old, centre-forward and only Maguire and Shaw as United level players behind them.

Agreed. There have been several times under Ole where Greenwood has been playing better than Martial or Rashford and yet has been the one to get hooked. I thought he was unlucky to be subbed off last night.
