Cloak and Dagger

There's been plenty said regards the Morelos incident today.
The general consensus is that it's a red card.....only seems to be Kevin Clancy and a few others that appear to have seen it differently

We are now wondering whether the compliance officer will get involved, and folk are asking for VAR to be introduced etc.

VAR is obviously still relatively new to the game, but even with its introduction, there is one thing that I have never understood about football, compared with other sports.

If you look at Rugby....the refs are mic'd up

When there is an on field incident, everyone can hear what the referee is saying, what the video referee is saying if he is involved, and it becomes clear straight away how and why a certain decision is being made, as you can hear the officials discuss exactly what they saw in real time, see in video replays etc....

I've never understood this cloak and dagger stuff with football referees. Even with the introduction of VAR, all discussions between the video ref, on field ref and assistant refs is all kept shtum....why?
It just makes no sense

I'm not saying all this with Morelos goes away today, but imagine there was VAR in the game last night, and imagine you heard every single word that was said between Kevin Clancy and his counterparts....I'm not saying the decision would have been right not to send Morelos off, but how that decision came about would have at least became a lot clearer for folk surely?

There's always all this conspiracy theory stuff kicking about with folk at times too which really rips ma knitting......so if there genuinely were refs out there that were making decisions in a biased manner (which I don't believe for a minute), then surely being able to hear every word they say during games might make them think twice about possibly making a dodgy call.

I just don't get the cloak and dagger stuff that surrounds refereeing in our game....needs to be far more transparent imo

See to be fair, down in England refs need to declare the team they support and they’re not Allowed to officiate in games directly involved with that club.

Something that would clearly be a benefit up here to shut up the moon howlers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's a great idea, I wonder why it's never been done before.

Because there’s enough foul language warnings from the pitch side mics. It would be x rated stuff. And no point offering up ‘just yellow card them’ when there’s so many offences that already go unpunished, foul language is way down the list.

Just yellow card them - Isn't 'foul and abusive langauge' in the laws of the game..?

Greegs last night would've been carded for his outburst.

Stupid suggestion. Every player swears on the pitch.

That’s the Novavax vaccine showing nearly 90% efficacy in UK trials. It’s lower for the SA variant, especially for those who were HIV positive. UK has 60 million on order.

Was going to say in practice it only gets yellow but in virtually every game you see players fckn this and that at the ref and he does fck all so who knows? Call him a cheat and you're in the book, mind.
