Time for Donny

Disappointing tonight but not surprising. We have become predictable and our regular performers aren't doing it and haven't for a while now.

Donny has had limited opportunities so far but has looked tidy and more than capable to step up. Surely he needs a run in the team now.

Unfortunately Ole doesn't seem to have the awareness or thr spine to make the changes we clearly need to make.

Time will tell.

His own manager even calls him a number 10 and states quite clearly he made the team better playing as one and you still say he isn't one.

You're such a moron.

I'll leave you to it.

But I thought Ajax don’t play with a number 10.

Rooney didn’t play like them either. It’s almost as if, you know, the number 10 position is a position on the pitch and players have different styles of play. Crazy concept.

Our managers often tell me Rashford and other can play different roles which I just don't agree with. It's to keep them happy and in the team.

He said he was a number 6 and adapted him to play that role. Basically saying you're a number 6 but I don't need two of those and Frankie is better basically.

He doesn't move like a number 10. He doesn't pick up positions like a number 10. He just isn't one. Nothing will convince me he is. I think he's a good player though.

Zola, Bergkamp and Eric are what I class as number 10's. If you think Donny's game is anything like those then I don't know what else I can say.

If anything Donny played higher than a traditional 10 at Ajax - playing on the shoulder and attacking the space that Tadic was creating by dropping into midfield, Poch actually spoke about that combination specifically when we played them iirc

Real Kane/Dele style situation there - Dele was always the comparison I saw people go to for Donny in terms of being at their best making runs off the ball (though I think he's much tidier than Dele who's much more aggressive in trying to force the issue)

Donny has looked ineffective at the club so far, a few nice touches don’t make him a shoe in.

In fact, he’s done nothing to suggest he will be a success in the starting line this far into his career.

That is because you don’t understand what you see. You said the very same about Fred.
