Wolves v Arsenal match preview

Date: Tuesday February 2nd
Kick off: 18.00
Venue: Molineux

On Saturday Wolves return to Molineux to take on Arsenal.

In the reverse fixture in November Wolves ran out 2-1 winners with goals from Pedro Neto, Daniel Podence and Gabriel. In a game which became the talking point of the week, referee Michael Oliver issued 7 yellow cards and Wolves’ striker Raul Jimenez was stretchered off after sustaining a fractured skull in the 15th minute, due to a clash of heads with David Luiz.

Arsenal are on a good run of form having won 6 of their last 9 games.
Wolves are on a poor run and have taken only 6 points from the 11 games since the injury to Jimenez and currently occupy 14th place in the table, 10 points above the relegation places but also 10 points from the top 6.

Raul Jimenez is, of course still sidelined and Wolves are also without long term absentees Jonny Otto and Marcel. Recent injuries to wing back Rayan Ait-Nouri and defender Romain Saiss ruled them out for Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace and it’s unlikely that either will be available for this game.
One player who will certainly start is Brazilian striker Willian José who has been brought in on loan from Real Sociedad to fill the very large boots of Raul Jimenez.

Mikel Arteta also has a new loan signing at his disposal, in the form of midfielder Martin Odegaard who made a late debut for the club in Saturday’s game against Manchester United.
It’s unknown if Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be available after being absent whilst supporting his mother who has suffered a serious illness.

The game will be shown live on BT Sport 1

Assume it will be the same back five and Rui with Neves coming back alongside probably Dendoncker and wouldn't be surprised if Traore starts ahead of Podence

I did comment that we never look at home grown players and we are missing a trick.

Can someone wake Sir Halfy from his slumber. Where's his match day thread?

Shame we have only 4 home grown players in Ruddy, Coady, Kilman and MGW and I doubt two of those will be with us next season.

We had far more home grown players when we were in League One

Maybe that was the problem?

Too many players from one country never bodes well, and is usually asking for trouble...…….
