Blues 2 Maribor 1

Well to be honest I'm speechless. Say what you want about Doyle and our opposition, any team that can go to Europe and beat the best team in Slovenia from behind like that deserves some credit. Whilst the mistake earlier by Doyle was something you shouldn't see from professionals, the way we responded was great, and what a half time talk and substitution!

What I'm really happy about though is how some of our players looked. Gomis looked lively on the ball and despite Elliot's miss in the second half, his shot for the goal was top notch. Beausejour had a great game too and looked nicely cultured on the ball, even Zig played well on the ground and boosted the team in the air for points.

But I think we have to say here that the biggest credit has to go to Burke, harrying the defence all game and scoring a fantastic goal to put us back on track, the way he responded to Zigic coming on was the mark of a quality player.

I have to say with one or two exceptions, we played better football in the second half than we played all season under Mcleish.

Based on this I'm actually more confident for the Forest game on Sunday. Things are looking up for the Blues!

what a result,i think elliott and beausejour were excellent,to come from behind was brilliant.i`ve never been more jealous of blues fans than tonight at the final whistle celebrating, wish i could have afforded to go.kro

You didn't miss much Zulu, he claimed that we were going down to league 1 and that Baggies were far superior etc.
I'd agree on MOM very close between Beau and Burke, they really showed their international quality today. More of the same please lads!

I managed to catch the second half, and we played pretty well and dominated for much of that period. Good goals and good character. An important stake in the ground for Blues. Well done CH & the boys.

I thought Caldwell and Pablo looked more settled together tonight.

Gomis came more and more into the game as it went on, but for me this is the one area (central midfield) where there's still alot of work to do. The options are Gomis, N'Daw,Fahey, Mutch (when he's back).

Something I'd like to see is a midfield of:

--------------------------Gomis/Mutch--------------------------------

Burke ---------------------Elliott ------------------------Redmond

-------------------------------------------Beasejour------------------
--------------------- King-------------------------------------------

I'm not sayingthat this is our strongest midfield/attack (obviously Zigic isn't there), but I'd like to see it for the first half of the next Europa home game. I've got a hunch that Beau could be very effective in that supportingr role.

Anyway, great last 30 mins today lads. Well done. Lookin forward to the Bruges away game (only one I can make).

Great result lads. I'm interested to see your views on Europe? Like do you see it as a distraction or a privalidge (sp) espesh with you being in the Championship in which you surely want to get promotion as your first priority back to the prem where IMO you belong. Ps I'm livin in bham now for the uni

Both.

It's definitely having an effect on our league performance, but how often do teams like us get into Europe?

Europe is a perfectly welcome distraction as far as I'm concerned. It's a novelty and an opportunity that a fraction of English teams get to experience every year.

Totspurs. Hope to see you down Stans once in a while. It's the only place round here to see attacking football and no shortage of goals.
If you prefer boring stifled football you know where to go

Good result for us, another one could be Braga lossing i think if we can beat Bruge away or avoid defeat then provided we take 4pts from Bruge and Maribor at home that could set us up with a great chance of getting to the last 32.

Say what you want about results and line ups but the most pleasing stat to me is 9 shots off target 8 shots on target away from home, in the last 4 years when has that happened at home never mind away??
