Mo Salah Yet Again

The Egyptian King once again reaches 20 plus goals in a season for the Reds in all competitions.

Still don't understand why some fans want him sold which is just the most ridiculous statement. He had a bad Jan and because of this some fans wanted him sold for this pipe dream of getting Mbappe. There is no guarantee that Mbappe will be able to match Mo scoring record.

Where does he rank in the PL history for the best wide players ever? For me he is right at the top. In 3 and half seasons for Liverpool he is now only 19 goals behind Giggs who is the leading goal scorer wide man. Just phenomenal.

Let me settle all arguments here.

Giggs was absolutely an outstanding winger, one of the best ever for me and would have been recognised as such had he been English instead of Welsh. His role was part of the four midfield players. He was required to get up and down the line the who game, score goals and provide assists. He did this to a world class level.

Wide players in systems nowadays like Salah, are not require to get up and down the line but to stay up top for the quick counter. This ensures teams can't push up as much and gives you an out ball. They also are often inverted as the main part of their role is to score goals, at a strikers' rate and therefore cutting inside on their stronger foot gives them the best opportunity to do this. Giggs was probably a better overall player than Salah but Salah a much better goalscorer.

Agree with Rosso in that Liverpool should be top, even with the injuries due to the quality of our squad, even with the injuries but it's nothing to do with the manager why we aren't. For some reason, all three forwards lost form at the same time for a few weeks in January and we struggled to score goals and at the risk of sounding like Hafi, had we taken the chances we would normally take every week, we'd be sitting top. This can happen, I mean the squad have maintained a crazy level for around three years, a bad period of form was inevitable. They're not robots.

Thank you.

Although if you look at the number of quality chances you created through spells of some of those games you were heavy favourites to win and failed to, you’ll see a drop off in production. It hasn’t just been finishing.

Certainly against us, Southampton, Newcastle, Brighton, West Brom you created very few decent chances. It was the same in the first half at the weekend.

From what I’ve seen and what I’ve read on here and elsewhere, as with us, the incisiveness and the quality of the build up play has been as big an issue.

I don't even know who signs players for Chelsea, but they didn't sign the players Mourinho wanted, so they're definitely to blame.

Bro wonder. Mourinho didn't buy Biiitch boy, Oscuuunt, Cuuuntois, Ivanoshiiit or Failhill. the only bad one he bought was Matshiiit, who was awesome when he first signed.“

We missed VVD build up play. He is the one who plays the diagonal ball to Salah to have the 1v1 with the fullback. Virgil allows us to push the fullbacks more forward to make overlapping runs. The spine of Alisson, Virgil, Hendo, Fabinho and Firmino are very important in our build up play and patern of play.

Disagree. We created a host of chances and some really simple chances that our forwards take every week during usual times. I'm talking Mane clean through, ball hitting bobble in the ground, shot goes wide. Salah on numerous occasions doing exactly what he did last night for his trademark goal. Cut inside from the right, drive into the box, faint right, defender moves, curl into left side of goal. Only he was passing it to the keeper. Firmino losing all sense of shooting power and doing feeble shots. General goal mouth scrambles ping pinging everywhere and not going in. Was a crazy few games.

Admittedly we weren't as good in possession but that was through a lack of confidence when the goals weren't going in. Look at our last goal last night and even the second one. They are typical goals you would associate with Liverpool but only come off when full of confidence, especially the last one.

But we've all heard Klopp talk about it before, the character and mental strength of these players and their togetherness is what makes this team. They had a bad period and came through it. We'll be up there. I personally think we'll win it, simply due to having the best team, even with the injuries.
