Robbed!

It's official: Sheffield United's goal should have been ruled out and ours should have stood. Solskjaer quoted in the Athletic:

"I've got the delegate's report through from the referee and the two decisions were wrong. They have admitted that their goal should have been disallowed and ours should have stood."

As I thought at the time, we can't moan about the luck going against us (beaten by a goal that should have been ruled out and a deflection) when it's a tight game. Play a lot of tight games and you'll win some with the run of the ball (which we have) and also lose some in the same manner. Our position at the top of the table was bolstered by having more lucky wins (like Brighton & Palace) than unlucky draws and defeats (like Leicester & Sheffield United). Staying close to the top of the division would require us to step up a gear, which is to say play consistently like we showed we could in the second half of last season, rather than replicating the form of the first half of this season and hope we hoover up as many points.

What part of the OP do you disagree with?

1) The verbatim quote in which it was revealed that in the official review, it was found that the wrong calls were made in both allowing Sheffield United's opening goal and blowing for the foul that prevented ours?

2) My ensuing argument that we can't claim to be unlucky if we keep playing very tight matches against teams in the bottom half of the table, and when we've benefited from the run of the ball more often than not?

3) The tongue in cheek title?

“Tongue in cheek” ffs really?

Decisions will go for and against us we should have to rely on decisions, we’re fecking about at the back and at present we don’t seem to have anyone who can stick the ball in the net on a regular basis!

I thought it was obviously an ironic title given what I wrote in the article itself, which is basically exactly the same as what you just wrote!

I can't see any substantial disagreement between your words here:

"Decisions will go for and against us we should have to rely on decisions, we’re fecking about at the back and at present we don’t seem to have anyone who can stick the ball in the net on a regular basis!"

...and my opinion in the OP:

"As I thought at the time, we can't moan about the luck going against us (beaten by a goal that should have been ruled out and a deflection) when it's a tight game. Play a lot of tight games and you'll win some with the run of the ball (which we have) and also lose some in the same manner. ...in the light of which, it should be pretty clear that the 'Robbed!' title was ironic.

I'm not even a United fan, and I never thought it was a anything other than a tongue-in-cheek title moment I read it followed by the mention of Sheff Utd in the opening line, let alone the rest of it.
