Big Feb ahead for City

Feel like I must write one of these articles almost annually, as February so often brings us football across three or four competitions. This year with the league cup final postponed we’ll have to live with just the three!

Personally my thoughts can’t help but look ahead to Sunday, Liverpool are coming into their stride just in time for our yearly Anfield draw or loss. Hopefully the team on the other hand will be taking it one game at a time, the main thing for us at the moment is to rebuild that same mentality of 18/19 - we were so strong and efficient second half of that season in what turned out to probably be the longest run in in top flight history, although we are in a bit of a better position than then we will still have to be virtually impeccable if we want to bring the title home.

Burnley tends to go one of two ways for us, we either show up and batter them, or they make it incredibly difficult and really make us work for the points. The team is more or less picking itself at the moment, but I think both Sterling and Jesus should start, they should each have a point to prove because I wouldn’t have either in the starting 11 at Anfield if you asked me right now.

Pep has recently alluded to the fact that Bernardo was badly affected by his ban last season, if only to act as confirmation for something we already knew, it’s good to see him getting back to his best and I expect him to feature in both games this week. Foden I imagine will be one or the other, with the biggest risk being whether or not to rest in form Gundogan tomorrow... The back 5 speaks for itself, although wouldn’t be surprised to see Laporte start at Turf Moor. Shout out to Cancelo, possibly having the best season from FB in the league so far, and I don’t think anyone would of expected Robertson or TAA to be displaced from the team of the year if you had asked them back in August.

Further into the month we’ve got another three big tests with league games against Spurs, Arsenal and West Ham, as well as FA Cup and Champions League away games thrown into the mix. Another potentially season defining February for City, and with relatively feck all else to do than watch football hopefully the team give us something to celebrate!

I hope we don't underestimate Burnley like other clubs have done recently.

Dyche seems to think it's a freak result everytime we beat them and will try to convince his players of this fantasy.

Pep should remind our players that Burnley were part of the 'Hateful 8' (fek knows why they joined in with that snidery) and the bad publicity fested on the Etihad with that flying banner used by their fans.

Not even thinking about the Liverpool game yet until I know who will be available.

I think the team will be absolutely focussed on tomorrow, we’ve been in this situation before with a lesser hand... Can’t help but wander to Sunday though, one because they are coming into form again so should be a cracker, and two because I’ve been on the waggon since New Year bar the odd drink, have decided to get on it Sunday though win or loss 🍻

I no longer drink.

I just use high powered opioids to get me through watching 20 football matches a week on TV.

Scouse Mickey is reffing on Sunday.

It's like starting with a 2 goal deficit.

Thought we were very professional tonight and never had to get out of second gear. Absolute game management. And great win for Brighton, takes a bit of pressure off Sunday, hope we really take the game to them now about time we turned it on at Anfield.

It's not that entertaining tbh but the way Pep is managing this relentless procession of games is amazing.

Since mid december Pep has been a 10/10. Managed the squad perfectly which is why we have few injuries.Dont like his approach to the big games but he has been proved right.

Expect the weekend game to be a draw but thats ok.
