I have absolute respect for Captain (brevit Colonel) Tom.

However he was one of the lucky ones. My grandfather 14600159 was killed on the 28th April 1945 just a week before the war ended. He never had the chance to do what Tom did.

"Captain" Tom was a great man, but let's remember those that never had an opportunity to be that great.

mancWoohoo - Maximus Mardius Cob-onius (U10676)

Reconnaissance Corps. Died in a German field hospital, my father had a letter from a German doctor saying how sorry he was he couldn't save him. Doctors on both sides tried thier best irrespective of who they were treating.

So respect all doctors and the crap they have to deal with.

Would he not have been one of the first to be vaccinated?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't think he had the vaccine due to having had Pneumonia for the past couple of weeks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was taking medication for pneumonia and because of that couldnt take the vaccine.

What a tragic end but he went with a massive bang and legendary status.
