Wolves v Leicester match preview

Date: Sunday February 7th
Kick off: 14.00
Venue: Molineux

On Sunday Wolves welcome The Foxes to Molineux.

The reverse fixture in November resulted in a 1-0 win to Leicester with Wolves having only won 3 games since then. But the last one was monumental! Their 2-1 win against Arsenal on Tuesday will have restored confidence in the players, the manager and most of the fans (some are never happy)

Leicester come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win at Fulham on Wednesday. Their away record this season is second only to Manchester Unitedโ€™s having won 26 away points from 11 matches.

Leicester currently sit in 3rd place in the league table whilst Wolves, despite their poor run of games being ended by the defeat of Arsenal, remain in 14th place

Wolves are still without several key players. Striker Raul Jimenez has returned to light training after recovering from a fractured skull. Jonny Otto is training again after cruciate ligament surgery but will not be available for this game. Wing backs Marcal and Rayan Ait-Nouri remain sidelined. Romain Saiss is expected to be fit and available.

Leicester have also been without their star striker. Jamie Vardy has been out of action following hernia surgery and will be assessed prior to this game. Wilfred Ndidi, Dennis Praet, and Wes Morgan all remain sidelined and Timothy Castagne and Wesley Fofana have both suffered hamstring problems recently and will also need to be assessed check if playing against Fulham.

The game will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Even/Premier League

You’re not playing them at Right Back though are you? You’ve got them playing as right sided centre backs in a three!

A position neither have EVER played in during their careers. Thankfully, Nuno won’t be as stupid as this.

Coady and Boly will play in the middle of a four at the back.

Podence likely to be out for 6 weeks with an abductor injury

Don’t worry Spangles. Wolfie will play Ruddy on the right wing!

I’d like to say wolfie has some tactical nous but I think it’s more a tactical noose

Looks like there is no end to the injury problems that have blighted our season. Just as we solve the problem of covering for Jiminez so a host of other injuries emerge that continues to mean we have 6 of the first team squad out and a few selection decisions to make today

We bought in plenty of cover for left back so incredible that Jonny, Marcal, Ait Nouri and Saiss are all out at the same time. Kilman looked totally unsuited to the role in the week but who else can we play there. Leicester will no doubt look to exploit that and Vardy could have a field day facing up to Coady if we play a back 4. We have conceded more than twice as many goals per game playing 4 at the back compared to 5 and my choice would be Hoever, Boly, Coady, Kilman, Semedo today.

Especially as with Podence also out we don’t have all of the usual 4 to play in attack

Incredible that we went 2/3 seasons with virtually no injuries and now every man and is dog are injured.
Why is it, anyone know or have an opinion.

Do wonder whether it’s a consequence of that very long season followed by a short summer break. Like the rest of us I think the players could do with a week or three by the Med

Niall Ennis made his debut for Burton today coming off the bench. They were losing 1-0 when he came on but they won 2-1 with Ennis playing a part in both goals

Ipswich have been falling fast down the league one table and had lost 6 of their last 7 games. But they won 2-0 today with Luke Matheson making his debut and playing the full 90 minutes

I was looking at past managers’ results today while watching McGhee’s Stockport match against Yeovil. They won 1-0; Lambert won 2-0; Jacket drew 2-2; but the prize must go to Mick, who beat Bristol City away, 2-0.

I dunno, the fact Lambert even has a job surely takes some beating.

Apparently Lambert had the virus quite badly...

I know a few people who have had the virus now and were really ill for a while. And when one person gets it then like flu it quickly passes around the family. But I don’t agree with Lambert that it should shut down football. Compared to live games I think watching on tv is pretty poor entertainment but it’s a lot better than having nothing to watch. Would have hated the lockdowns even more if I didn’t have football and horse racing to watch on the box
