Carbon copy of our meeting last season...

except it was Callum, Mount, Kova and Reece running the show with their positional rotations & overloads this time as opposed to Willian, Mount, Kova (and a worse backline).
Same back 3 system, same story...Jose flummoxed, done and dusted.

Again...made hard work of that, when we should have been out of sight if not for the lack of ruthless clinicalism in attacking third, exemplified by only producing two shots on target (one pen)...out of eighteen yesterday (3/13 last season) which is appalling for all our dominance.

Werner was supposed to be the one to solve that particular problem...I genuinely couldn't comprehend how he survived 90 minutes (can't hit a barndoor and in the worst barren spell of goals out of all our strikers).
Additionally, majority of the nice passages of play invariably broke down with him in possession.
Can't continue like this, hope his fortunes changes for the better soon enough.

Tuchel subs in the second half shifted the momentum firmly in Spurs favour, destroyed our rhythm (Mount, Kova and especially Callum are looking like the glue holding everything together, the only ones capable of stringing purposeful passes together and at the heart of creating dangerous attacking moments; vital cogs at present)...

Which brings me onto Pulisic...really needs to buck up his ideas, hasn't shown any sort of acceptable tangible form yet.
Quite frankly been nothing short of dire this season, making little to no effect when started or off the bench. No cutting-edge whatsoever.
Went from being one of the top performers last season to the worst (basically a no-show, biggest player downturn) this season is disconcerting.

I would say a barndoor is smaller than a goal...

Our attackers how been in awful form for a good 2 months. Really hard seeing where our next goal comes from. Cho probably the only one in form.

Quite a significant moment as our first league win this season against any decent team.

Happy with that. Better team in terms of performance. Maybe disappointed that couldn’t translate into more chances taken but I also think Spurs did very well with some last ditch defending to make otherwise good chances we created not have an impact.

In a way this reminds me a bit of our form under Lampard just before Mendy and Silva came in, except better. Looking like we’re building a solid base defensively but still just finding that right balance going forward.

Thiago Silva is a big miss but perhaps a warning that we cannot overrely on him this or next season. Still..in this back three system AC has history of doing well and hopefully can show some form. Azpi and Rudi continue to do well.

Kova and Jorginho playing well in this system. Kante has to play his way back into the side right now if he’s to start, no more just starting Kante because he’s Kante.

Alonso, well, as usual if he doesn’t score what exactly does he provide? Hopefully this can accelerate the eventual realisation that he isn’t that good (to be the main starter) that each manager seems to go through.

CHO less dangerous today than at wingback. Spurs would have probably prepared for him at wingback anyway but still I think that suited him just for isolating him with the full back and making use of his crosses.

No other clear answers for me with Werner and the two players behind the striker (if this 3-4-3 is how we’re doing it), or where James fits in. Once again, James needs to get the aggression and confidence back in his game.

Tammy hasn't been in awful goalscoring form, one of the very few players in-form when starting matches.
Should start more often, deserves a run in the team.

Felt it was harsh subbing Tammy off at HT against Burnley, whilst looking more capable than Werner at scoring goals.
Werner has been afforded a lot of leeway and preferential treatment.

Werner is better down the centre. Slow improvement in general link up play and starting to take shots on goal but not what we paid for. It will take time but the pace demonstrated to win the penalty is something TT will harness for the good of the team.
