Chairboys v Forest Match Thread

Football is a game whose outcome only a fool, or indeed a Derby City supporter, would hazard more than a guess as to the result.

It's been a very enjoyable football week at least; from being a goal down against Coventry & suffering a plague of sheep to running out 1-2 winners after a dogged performance.
Contrast this to our inferior neighbours, from laughing at us, with their promotion push finally getting going against Rotherham, only for abandonment, immediate replay and 3-0 humiliation.

The first game I attended at Forest Green was against Wycombe, in fact I was asked if I was one of their fans, my response was not knowing where Wycombe was. So they've come along way in a short period of time.

Wycombe's 2-1 win against Cardiff on 29th December is one of only three wins they've managed all season; a 1-1 draw against the promotion chasers also a good result.

February is a fixture full month with seven games in 25 days, Swansea & Bournemouth particularly stand out as difficult games, although Bournemouth seem to be in turmoil at the moment [4 straight losses], sacking their manager with Jonathon Woodgate a makeshift stand-in.

The Chairboys pointless draw against Brum' last time out proved to be a game of two goalkeepers [both pulling off outstanding saves, in either half] Wycombe still not finding a goal even after Roberts 87 minute red.

Forest are enjoying a decent run of games since the loss to Middlesbrough. Sammy Ameobi is a doubt for Saturday after his half time substitution against Coventry.
Hughton's two new signings Crovinovic & Garner have made an immediate impact in midfield and should start tomorrow. Perhaps Mighten will return to the squad and exploit his pace against Wycombe.

Although we're into February I wouldn't take the bottom three for granted, especially after Rotherham doing the double over Derby.

It would be nice to score a hatful tomorrow as our stat's are too similar to Derby's, but it's important not to under estimate the opposition.

Derby infiltrators have been very quite today

Solid score line. Not bad considering we can do much better. Our forward line were just too much for plucky Wycombe, as they will be for many a side by the end of this season.

Brentford 4-1 up at Boro, jeez they don’t half score some goals.

Yep, baring in mind they let go their 2 prolific scorers last season - they have amazing talents scouts
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They lose a couple of players and buy a couple to replace them. They only buy players that fit their project and their playing style. So keep the majority of the team together and can then build on what they have. Rather than replacing half their squad every 6 months. But they also do have some great scouts as well.

What a difference an early goal makes. As you say, things looking up.

Good win today though. Could easily have lost but showed some resilience. 1 defeat in 10 is decent enough. Hopefully if we pick up a few more wins we can edge away from trouble. There are a lot of teams who could still slip into trouble with a few losses. Very, very tight table (bottom half anyway).

Next 5 games - very tough, but we’re seeing glimpses that we can compete when we approach the game with the right attitude - no complaints today

Importantly 5 wins in those 10 games!

With Derby’s and especially Rotherham’s recent form, draws have done us no favours.

Those 10 games are a better reflection of where Hughton has got us to. 1 defeat , 5 wins and 4 draws. Can’t really complain. But now is the time to turn those draws into wins

Winning when not at your best is always a good sign. That's what we did today, and I've seen us play better.
