As I said in the thread below, It's complete fantasy that people only criticise performances after losses and when we do it after wins we get called miserable.
Last night was absolute trash football. One of the worst games I've seen us play all season to the point where I'm questioning if I want to watch another United game under this manager or ever. My overall enjoyment of football has tanked this year and I am questioning if 7 years of punishment is enough (nothing to do with trophies I'm talking about style of play).
The lack of posts after a big win last night says it all that the feeling of apathy is high.People on this board are not really fans of football or interested in a proper debate they get their entertainment from arguing with their fellow fans so they can feel validated by backing the manage. It's an ego boost and most likely boredom as there is not much else to talk about unless it's agendas against the same players (Fred pogba martial) after every game.
Why call people out for not critising the team after a game if you don't like it?. Its quite ironic.
Football is trash

Tbh I would have sacked the manager when Poitch was available. There's almost no point now. I would wait until the end of the season before making that decision but if left up to me I would have done it a while ago yes.
I said replace or partner Harry but I do think he is a bigger passenger than people realise. We have the cash to buy 2 CB's - if we have a resourceful coach we could have found a decent CB for much cheaper - a new one doesn't have to cost 80m. Harry is bench material. O'shea or Jonny Evans in their prime were better and started on the bench for us most games.
I don't like the so called system we have because it's not entertaining to watch and that's my opinion. I would rather have a coach that focusses on moving the ball quicker. In order to do that we need to drill the players so you know who is going to be where at any given time. I don't see that, I see lots of hesitation or moments of brilliance and so our current system is quite ineffective against an organised defence - we'e too reliant on individuals.

What made Pochettino more qualified than Solskjaer? He hadn’t won as much as Solskjaer in his career.
It’s obviously very early days at PSG, and time will tell how he does, but he’s going to need to do better than he’s started if PSG are going to retain their title and he’s going to keep his job.
Whom would you be looking at in the summer, assuming Poch isn’t available?
I’m not sure we do have cash to buy two CBs of the calibre to start games immediately. The club is on track to lose about £200M of income this financial year, and I expect we’ll see a spend well under £100M, regardless of outgoings.
Regardless, which CBs would you want the club to be chasing?
“...if we have a resourceful coach we could have found a decent CB for much cheaper...”
I don’t understand that at all. Ole isn’t responsible for identifying players, negotiating transfer fees or signing off on fees. He sits on a transfer committee which creates lists of priority positions and preferred, ranked players for those positions. That’s it.
Maguire had been tracked by and a target of the club before even Mourinho joined. Mourinho wanted him, the club enquired and backed out, and we all know about the fallout that followed. He was close to an inevitability for years before Ole joined the club.
“O'Shea or Jonny Evans in their prime were better...”
I’d be amazed if you were in more than the 5% with that particular view.
On your last point, I think there are a lot of teams that struggle to break down the league’s best-drilled deep-lying defences. Liverpool, with their two world class forwards, most productive FBs in world football and Ballon d’Or shortlisted creative midfielder have been struggling. Even City struggle sometimes.
The fact that we’re second in the league despite an abysmal record against the rest of the top six actually says we break those kind of defences down as well as anyone right now.

Look at Potch net spend, look at how many players he bought over 30m and then look what he achieved as a coach with that criteria.
That calibre of coach will pick better CBs than anyone I could identify nor do I need to identify anyone. My overall point is, we can get better personell for our money.
You make a lot of excuses for Ole in the terms of the transfer dealings. That's fine. It doesn't change the fact that we need the best coaches to get the best our of whatever signings arrive through the door. On a positive note I'm impressed with the club's decision to go for young talent as apposed to splashing the cash on Sancho, which imo would have been another huge risk.
Are Liverpool's forwards world class, or are they are part of a system that makes them look world class? They are top players but are they levels above what we've got? Put our players in their system and I reckon you get similar numbers.
Can you tell me what makes Maguire a better player than Jonny Evans and John O'shea?
When those players played they weren't passengers and they certainly didn't make as many mistakes. I would rather have smalling than Maguire, no cap.

Think you just proved his point by deleting his comment!

I don't care he can create his own article. I don't have to take insults from people on my own thread. Especially from people who are habitual WUMs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But that what I accused you of. Being a pesky WUM on the United board. Yet you see it fit to delete my post. Don't dish out what you cant cope with yourself. Very childish of you.

Managers have nothing to do with net spend, GE. Again, they don’t negotiate fees and I’m not aware of any who yes or no transfers after their clubs’ financial teams have settled on fees.
It’s fair to say, “So-and-so manager has done well given the players he’s had at his disposal,” but praising or chastising managers because the negotiating teams at their clubs are proficient or otherwise is bonkers.
Are Salah and Mane better players than Rashford and Greenwood. Yes, right now they are. They’re more than five years ahead of our two in their development and have demonstrated over several seasons that they’re capable of delivering against the bottom line whilst putting in, consistently, individual performances that have had them on Ballon d’Or shortlists. I think both of ours have the potential to match them, but they’re a few seasons away yet.
As for Maguire vs Evan’s and O’Shea, for a start, Harry is in a different class to both of the others aerially. He wins far more defensive headers, makes more clearances and scores goals (not as many as he should) with his head.
He’s also better on the ball than both Evans and O’Shea. He passes the ball well, consistently, over short, middle and long range and is part of the reason why we can play through the press every week. I wouldn’t want to be doing that with Johnny O at CB, for sure.
And I wouldn’t agree that he makes more mistakes than either of the other two, particularly not Jonny Evans. People have very short memories if they’ve forgotten match thread after match thread of people absolutely pillorying Evans bloopers. People were figuratively dancing away on here when we let him go.

I remember the usual complaint about Evans was that he got bullied too easily by physical centre forwards. Bit like we complain about Lindelof now, I guess.

Yep. That and the brainfarts.

Evans was weak as piiiiiss when he played for us. He’s got better since leaving. But I think the biggest problem with him was he couldn’t deal with the pressure of playing for United. He suits a smaller side with less pressure.

Maybe that was Depay's problem

I think he got a bit too big for his boots, and the restrictive nature of our coaches didn’t really suit him. That seems to be what he’s suggested as well. I think he’d have faired better in this United one than the one he did, or didn’t, play in. We’ve wasted a lot of attacking talent since Fergie retired. I think the club’s been the bigger problem rather than the players.
