Interim Report

Nothing surprising

On our finances - they're not just quite as bad as I feared they could have been. We've not yet had to access the extended overdraft we agreed, and the sale of Frimpong and impending sale of Ntcham aren't included in the numbers. If we do have a restructure in the summer, between where we are now and the likely sale of the players that's been mooted, then there should be sufficient for (hopefully) a new manager to make a number of signings.

On the statement from Bankier - meh. He's making a rod for his and the rest of the board's back. Words mean little until they're backed up by actions - that's the time to judge.

Not sure the angst. It is the interim financials that as a plc they are duty bound to report. It is not the strategic review which was mooted. I severely doubt as fans we see any of that whether it is complete or in process or not even started. All we will see at best is actions on the conclusions.

I just read it as a statement of facts; none of which are really arguable.

Take the emotion of the teams performance and Lennon’s part in the fans anger out of what we maybe wanted to see and it is what it is.

The worrying aspect for me is the sheer devastation of having no fans at games has wrought. I don’t think it’s a quantum leap to suggest that we were and likely still are the club who can so far withstand the damage. Just what the hell is happening among other clubs?

And think on the very real possibility that we still won’t have fans in come July. My thoughts are we won’t see full crowds this next season at all and maybe at best 50% capacity from maybe the New Year but I wouldn’t hold my breath. This virus will cause untold havoc yet to come.

Agree
It’ll take a lot for all fans to renew for another season
Largely most thought it’d be sorted by Now
Another season of £600 or more for families is a lot to ask
Rangers may do ok due to “winning” the league

Agree on the commercial statement that I posted. Nothing surprising but I never evn thought what it could mean for small clubs and clubs with huge debt trying to buy a league title while having covid parties...

In all seriousness though all of the focus is on season tickets (and rightly so as it is anything from £600 to thousands with nothing to show for it and renewals coming up but what is missed in the revenue of match days. Concession stands, programmes and of course the non-Celtic stuff like the burger vans who I would guess are close to goin out of business if they haven't already

I think most of the anger though is around the follow up statement that went on social media.

None of the Celtic PLC statements are surprising, just very sad that they have reach such a low point

First chance I've had to read it.

Most of it is pretty much a statement of facts, as they are required to do ... BUT honest to God, who sanctioned including the first "Operational highlight" as "Currently second in the SPFL Premiership"? Seriously?!!!

The reality is that uber-complacency from our Board has brought us to this point (not often I agree with Dave King on anything). This was always coming, although I hoped we at least had a 50/50 shout of getting away with that just long enough to sneak the 10. Instead we've imploded far more spectacularly than any of us could have imagined. The most shocking indictment of the Board though, over and above the years of "just doing enough", is that the clown of a manager is still in a job ... but then that's just more of the same laziness and abject failure to ever be pro-active.
