A very good article in TheTelegraph by Sam Wallace highlighting the desire by top PL clubs, ours and ManU’s owners taking the lead, in promoting (‘yet another) increase in games, and by extension, hopeful additional revenue, with a 36-side competition replacing the current one.
Like all other Reds seeing the team play, live, or in these straitened time on Sky or BT has a tremendous draw on me, and I’m sure I’m not alone. Seeing the team play, on occasion twice in seven days, is fantastic, v. Leipzig being and excellent example.
But isn’t - or shouldn’t - there be a limit to the number of games played each season? How d’you fancy seeing the Reds play every two to three days for example? For perhaps the entire season, say? Injuries to top players through simply too many games? You ain’t seen nothing yet! A constant, never-ending stream of games, football on tv each and every day, mornings and evenings if it’s a weekend.
Fancy it? Not for me, thanks
All clubs, not just the top Johnnies, have suffered dreadfully at the hands of COVID, no question. But to saturate the fixture table to the point of boredom in their seemingly insatiable lust for more money would defeat the purpose in the long term.
I appreciate that most owners are in it to make as much money as possible, and Henry et al is no exception. Nothing wrong in that, good luck to them, but please don’t burn players out in the chase for money alone.

I agree with all that Jimmy. I would like to see a limit on the number of first class games per season.

Clubs involved will just build bigger squads so the amount of games will be no problem at all. It is inevitable

Im with klopp, fans come first, we want to see the best football possible with the best players at full peak? Stop playing them every 2 days. Wed night sat morning for example. Should be min 3.5 days between games twice a week is possible, maybe add 5 subs to help our 2 of the 5 u21s or academy players. Maybe bigger squads and more room with ffp?

Well come first when it comes to owners n money etc, players health should obviously come first. There was an article ex barca player i think said injuries from football made his life very difficult in later life.

Quite honestly I’m getting a bit fed up with how much football is on TV currently.
A weekend game with the odd cup game midweek suits me

The problems for fans like us, manusince, is that in each case our clubs are owned by people whose sole desire, objective, call it what you will, is making as much money as possible. Nothing else comes close.
I think I’m right in saying, and this clearly isn’t a dig at you or your fellow Mancs is that in your club’s case, the owners have continued to have a big financial draw in most if not all seasons, and that can’t be to the benefit of your club.

I think what is more likely is that the prem will be reduced to 16 teams and the European qualifiers will be exempt from the league cup - which in turn will lose its Europa spot.
If they can get rid of sheeittttty international friendliest then that would help.
At the end of the day though, nearly all the chairman are in for the money/prestige, so it’s just a matter of time

Klopp, like every single other manager would have no say in it. Daft point really....

The number of games is always a problem.
If we want "quality" then tou have to have time to train to be tactically sharp.
The reality is however adding games to the cl wouldnt be an issue if ther was no league cup.
In spain the big sides dont even enter the copa until quite late on. The tv money is also skewed to them.
Its all designed for the big boys. Here you have an almost communist approach that all are equal no matter what. The cups are almost equal for all bar one round off in league cup and top 2 teir come in at 3rd round of fa cup. The tv money is far.more equally spread leading to it being worth it for bad owners to come in to smaller clubs to gouge.
A wider european calendar is all well and good but on its own doesnt increase quality of game. Its who plays who frankly.
