CELTIC defender Christopher Jullien may not play for another "six to nine months" according to manager Neil Lennon.

Speaking to the media on Friday, the Parkhead boss was asked to give an update on the squad's fitness and dropped a bombshell by revealing that Jullien - who has been out injured since the tail end of 2020 - will not be back in the first-team fold anytime soon.

At the time, Lennon assessed that the centre-half would be out of action for "three or four months" but that estimation looks way off now, with the injury more serious than it initially appeared.

Speaking at Celtic's press conference, Lennon explained: "He's out for a long period of time.

"Maybe six to nine months and he's gone back to do some rehab in France."

Neil Lennon has revealed Moi Elyounoussi and Shane Duffy will be assessed before this weekend's Ross County clash.

Norwegian Elyounoussi injured himself on the training pitch earlier today and will be looked at before Sunday evening's action. And Duffy is suffering an achilles issue and will also be given the opportunity to prove his fitness.

Asked about squad availability, Lennon said: "We're okay. Elyounoussi picked up a knock today in training so we'll see how he is for tomorrow. Shane's got a bit of an achilles problem so, again, he'll be assessed tomorrow."

Winger James Forrest has been out of action for a number of months now and Lennon explained that he will not be considered in terms of match day squads until he's back training with the first-team properly.

Could we see James Forrest back in action? "No, not yet," Lennon responded. "He's not back in training with the group, he's still doing some individual rehabilitation work at the minute."
