Time for heading to be banned?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56168698

Sounds extreme but is it really impossible to see a time when heading becomes akin to hand ball and outlawed. The majority of heading in a game is done by defenders and to a lesser extent by forwards so they face the highest risks to their health later in life

I thought playing from the back was to give you more control going forward!..

Kicking long is a 50/50 thing for both teams and gives your oponent the same chance as you to invite/put the pressure on!..

I have a feeling (conspiracy) that this playing out of from the back nonsense is teams being pressured by the FA amoung others to reduce heading from football (goalkicks)

You also believe that there was an issue with dominion voting systems?

Well that's nonsense for a start.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There were more goals conceded at the weekend as a result of making mistakes whilst playing out from the back. High risk low reward. Can't see any other reason why teams do it, they always end up kicking it long anyway, they just waste about 10 seconds of gametime thinking about it
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Shaun come on.

If you think that playing out from the back how do you explain that the majority of the sides at the top of leagues play out from the back far more than the sides at the bottom of the leagues who are forced to play longer?

Nonsense analysis that doesn't make sense

As for banning heading.

I don't think its a realistic option. Think it would be very damaging to the sport.

And while there will be measures put into place to reduce the risk of neurological diseases in later life. And as bad as the disease is. The life expectancy of footballers is far higher than the average human because the positive health benefits far outweigh the negatives.

This is true of almost every sport.

It is also the individuals choice to take the risks involved. No one is forced into a career in football.

Reducing heading drills in training makes sense. Seeing if there are recovery periods required. And possibly changes to the ball sound more practicable.

Banning altogether doesn't.

In the USA heading is banned in U11 and younger games (I believe) to address the issue of concussion and ultimately dementia..

The biggest effect that I have noticed has been to improve ball control with the chest in younger players.

This law is very easy to administer in games.

Football has been changed so much the last number of years if they stopped heading it'd leave not a lot left to watch!..

All you see these days is players falling over hoping for an oscar, something that has got worst because of changing things!..

Diving has been an issue in Latin American and certain European leagues for decades. Just relatively new in the English leagues. Nothing to do with laws changes the last few years.

IMHO, of course.
