What were they smoking at Rennes?

Just watching Raphinha for Leeds against Soton, and he’s putting in another excellent performance. Looks like a dynamite player to me.

Apparently, Rennes let him go a year after they signed him from Sporting for a smaller fee than they actually paid, despite him having a decent debut season in Ligue 1.

I’ve read a rumour about them accepting a lower bid to avoid potential sell-on fees which might otherwise have been due to Sporting, but that doesn’t make a great deal of sense to me and I don’t know if there’s any truth in it.

Anyway, a snip for Leeds at less than £20M.
