Thoughts from tonight

Llorente back in side and initially we struggle to get going.

At half time it could have already been 2-2, lots of chances, Llorente surviving a penalty shout and referee getting the decisions right, much to the frustration of Southampton.

Defence looking better, Meslier inspiring confidence again and with Cooper putting in solid leadership performance we look a lot less insecure at the back now.

Players really struggling with the pitch but our passing and moving sharpened up and finally a great ball from Roberts sets Bamford up for a beautifully taken goal, he is looking more and more assured at this level.

Roberts went close but also blazed over first half but played well eventually making way for Hernandez get some minutes and doesn't take long for Hernandez to set up Costa who was on getting more and more into the game and sets up the goal for Dallas with a bit of a toe poke from edge of box.

Raphinha had been brilliant throughout and got his just deserts with lovely free kick from some way out. It should have been his second after being set free earlier in the match, miles ahead of Southampton but an amazing last ditch tackle from Rumeo to deny him.

Defence looking better, it no longer feels we're going to concede with every attack.

Bamford now looking more of a certainty to score than not when he gets the ball and so much energy in the team its looking very good.

Will be interesting to see how Llorente plays next match, I thought after penalty shout he did very well and so must be a huge confidence boost.

Pitch is getting worse and nice touch not only to see the players tribute to Granny Val but also that Sky were aware of what it's all about.

Well done Leeds!

Great win, took our chances, they didn't. Raphina, Cooper and Costa were excellent. Already safe, 2 wins needed is tosh.

We'd have been in CL by now if Heck was still manager!

(Cheshire League, not Champions)

Thank-you Leeds and Southampton. Not too long ago English football games were played like today's game. Back and forth, up and down the pitch, lots of scoring opportunities for both sides. Not always pretty, but exciting for the fans. And much better to watch than this strolliing up and down the pitch with at least 24 sideway passes on the way to the opponent's goal. Thank-you Arsene, you, and your ilk, started this boring stuff!

Fantastic result.
First half average with several players not great - Llorente, Harrison, strujik, Raph, klich all struggled for me. Despite soton dominating the ball position in our half we wasted two glorious opportunities with bamford over hit pass to a clear roberts and Raph decision to go to central to shoot.
Much better second half. Passing better. Switch of wingers worked and Costa was superb outlet.
This was a huge result. We can move into Saturday dreaming of going 8-9th spot.

Just worth a mention:

Our thoughts also for the family of Dona Miguelina, the mother of Ronaldinho with whom Raphinha is well acquainted...

A nice gesture there from Raphinha also tonight.

Fair play Donn

Agree with what you say apart from Dallas , I think it was always there , certainly in a Northern Ireland shirt, its just we only got patches for the first couple of years when he moved from Brentford.
