I like this match-up, Welshy is making big strides in improving his side, Rof’s City side is a few steps further down that road but it’s still a balanced match-up, especially considering home advantage and this little nugget β€œOur 4-2-3-1 is set up to have that wonderful β€˜springy' quality - it absorbs pressure without breaking and then snaps back with surprising force" Blades go into the slots with an advantage, due to not only Home Adv but as one of the in-form teams in the league (14/10/5D)

Vs

-------------------- B.Leno --------------------
Pereira --- Kounde --- Gabriel --- N’Dicka
----------------- Fernandinho ----------------
---------- Gundogan --- B.Silva -------------
S.Gnabry ------- E.Cavani ---- Aubameyang

This battle for me is similar to the one above, one side improving on paper and getting stronger the other a bit ahead in terms of quality. Jorginho is a good addition to the side and I think he fits your tactics nicely. I don’t know much about Alberto but Jorgy and SMS would be a great combo in their own rights. I like the wingers and Kane is clearly a worldy, only one I’m unsure of is White but the side is coming along nicely.
Jet, I like the balance of the side, I think it works well, I can see Leeds getting at your defence, I’m not sure how good your Portuguese RB is, and from what I can gather your LB is a CB? I like the Man City midfield it obviously works, we don’t need to debate that, and the forward trident are all proven to.

---------- Casemiro --- N.Kante -----------
J.Sancho ------ De Bruyne ----- E.Hazard
---------- A.Morata --- Griezmann --------

Well this is interesting, Both sides playing 3 at the back, and TAB being the latest to decide that full-backs are unnecessary in this game of football.
Fan – I like the side, I like the tactics, Wolves are coming along nicely, you mentioned the lack of CB’s available to Spurs and I agree, they can be gotten at, but a shield of Casemiro and Kante is tough to get past. Tactics read well and I can’t pick many faults, other than your use of Silva. He’s in great goal-scoring form in Germany he’s got his confidence back, I’ve not watched him play just seen the numbers, but from what I saw (mostly at Milan) he’s not the kind of striker you want to be holding the ball up and dropping deep. But I do think Silva and Werner could be a good combo even if they are a bit samey (IMHO)

TAB – I love the formation, I used it myself in the cup and it gives for me the perfect blend of defensive strength and a shed load of firepower, I think a side playing wingers could butcher you and in that respect Fan misses a trick with just wing-backs it doesn’t allow him to attack the spaces and stretch you enough, even though he says his strikers will run the channels. The 2 DM’s are quality and the front five is enough to carry most games.
In this set up we also have the flexibility for Casemiro to drop in alongside Ake, allowing Cancelo & Reguilon to cover the flanks in a conventional back 4. Tactical flexibility is our greatest weapon. – This was a nice touch.

Chelsea vs Newcastle

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” Fabinho - Hummels - Shaw
Trent - Goretzka - Kroos - Barella - Robbo
β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” Salah – Vardy

The thing that strikes me most about this game is congestion in the middle, Fan with just one up top I think will struggle to breakdown that Newcastle defence, Psg’s wing attack vs Liverpools wing defence is a good battle. And Newcastle for me win the midfield. Ludy’s low block or whatever hipster term he’s using these days is set-up to keep the point they started with and they stifle the Chelsea side well enough.
Both sides feel rigid but I just feel Haaland gets isolated against a back-three, but Salah and Vardy with their pace can cause the Chelsea CB’s problems.
Ludes I liked your tactics I thought they were well thought out and I can see the way you’re trying to get the boys to play.

Chelsea 0-1 Vardy (Barella) The ultimate smash and grab job.

Tall tall order here in a top vs bottom clash. Elsie’s B’mouth side is full of potential and with his insightful tactics and home advantage he makes a good game of this. RoF has a fantastic side and clever tactics, makes it a good blend. Did the red card before the slots and it fell on Martinez of Leicester. Who knows today could well have been his allocated worldy day as well, but a front-two of Sterling and Mane is bloody decent.
Two very good sides, playing fluid attacking football, two master tacticians would be a good match-up, but not for the first time today I’m saying this, 1 side is improving whilst the other is already the finished article and just that bit ahead.
