Team for tomorrow

With the issues we have been having lately, I feel tomorrow is time to kickstart our season again if we want to salvage anything from this wretched season where bad luck and injuries have sadly conspired against us.

With the current squad, I think we should go for a 4-4-2 for a change and play the following. Alison, Trent, Kabak, Phillips, Robertson and a midfield diamond of Keita, Mane, Salah and Thiago with the latter at the top of the midfield and then play Firmino just behind Jota up front. We could play Gini instead of Keita if too risky to put him in but I feel that this team is probably going to have a better chance of a result rather than the team we played against Everton.

I know Jota is just back but in our current predicament, if he is fit, play him. He might just be the boost we need to end the season on a high. Who knows, maybe even win a trophy!!

Wouldn't even bother playing Firmino. Like playing with 10 men. Go with 4-4-2 diamond. Anyone know if Fab is back?

Alisson
TAA
Kabak
Phillips
Robbo
Gini
Thiago
Ox
Curtis
Salah
Mane

Lols

Take the Premier league top scorer and stick him at right midfield

Then take a lad in training for 3 days and start him.

4 wingers and then thiago and keita in the middle

Any better ideas? Clearly the current set up is not working without VVD/Hendo and Fab

Allison (though apparently may not play due to bereavement)

Trent, Phillips, Kabak, Robbo

Wij, Keita

Thiago

Salah, Bobby, Mane

That’s what I think he’ll play. Too early for Jota to start, otherwise would have had him in for Bobby. The balance of your team was all wrong imo, would just get overrun in midfield leaving the defence too exposed.

Will be Jones playing at the tip of the diamond if it’s ever used

Gini at the base with Thiago and Keita in the central positions.

This is pretty much where it is headed.

Thiago can sit in after 30.mins when he can no longer run etc.

Jones can come on.

Jota can come.on for 20mins. He cannot start yet.

personally my view would be to go 4222.

Trent and robertson told to absolutely pile on and stay wide. trent has developed a habit of staying i nthe middle and i don't want tto see this as salah ends up there.

Alisson/Kelleher
Trent Phillips Kabak robertson
Wijnaldum Thiago (assuming he can sit adequetely)
Jones Keita (say central, press hard.)
Salah Mane.

Just flood the middle. let salah and manes so what they do but tell them their objective is get in the box to score/dive. (might as well)

I like that team but SU will be flooding the middle as well and parking the proverbial bus. The worry is that if we then rely on Trent and Robbo to provide the width, we may get seriously exposed at the back with a rookie pairing.

This'll be the 200+ CB and MF combination of the season.

Chris will be licking his lips at the thought of another record being set.. the current champions losing to the bottom placed team. Really hope that doesn't happen.

Nothing less than an emphatic win needed today.

That's wijnaldum and thiago job to cover. My view is get people in the box who can score and get width to work it in behind not just aimlessly cross.

I would rather Keita and shaqiri but you.cannt rely on these guys.

If 2 cms and 2 CBS cannot deal with a few breaks and long balls we might as well give up.

We need to get sides turned and panicked. Pull people.put of position etc. We cannot crab side to side and let teams sit comfortably. Overlapping runs and balls into to channels are the way to go.

The sad thing is the rare time firmino clicks it's great but if he misses all the time in the end he has to sit out.
