Why ref didn't give us penalty

Luke Shaw has said that the ref told Maguire that he didn't give the penalty because it would "cause a lot of talk" after the game.

Assuming it's true, how can the refs be taken seriously when they make decisions based on what might or might not be said after the game? The league is worth hundreds of millions a season and this is what we have to put up with? It's an absolute joke.

You've had an absolute nightmare on this one mate.

Almost as funny as watching tuchel rock left and right likes he's on coke, at the same time as saying greenwood handballed the ball before Hudson odoi did.

Still don't understand how tuchel said he watched the replay multiple times and still came to the conclusion that greenwood handballed the ball so why was there even a penalty check in the first place?

What a mess head.

I do wonder about some of these managers. High pressure job, loads of money, working all hours...

If you had a family member who acted or spoke like Tuchel or Bielsa, you’d probably be watching where you left your wallet and ready to stage an intervention.

The most annoying bit was that it was obvious there was handball. The Chelsea players screamed handball as they thought it was Greenwood.

The ref is a joke.

Player raised his hand as he was braced for impact from the United player. Never a deliberate handball so it wasn't given. After all the soft pens united have had its kinda hard to feel sorry for them.

And as for what Shaw said you can bet he won't be giving any interviews for a while 😅 wtf is he chatting about.

Agree with what someone said earlier that that should not decide a game. Getting a penalty from that when the play is heading in the opposite direction to the goal and the Chelsea player has pretty much got the ball. No thanks.

jesus, the mental gymnastics are sure something on here, just with these last two posts we've got "player raised his hand as he was braced for impact" and "well, maybe it was technically a foul, but such soft penalties shouldn't decide a game".

What about the one we got against us against Palace? We will just ignore that one eh?

You are right. We should stop all penalties in case they end up deciding a game. Great point.

I have been wanting to make an article for a while about how the goal post always seems to move in terms of application of the rule

because utd benefitted from the rules earlier in the season, it seems it is now ok to choose to not apply rules when the correct application favours utd.
