I’ve read a lot of Spurs fans saying that we should give the Europa League priority now and give up on the Premier League.
I fully understand that the EL now represents our second best route to a trophy (as we’re already in one final) and our best route to achieving Champions League qualification. But I just cannot see our fans being happy with defeats and draws week in/week out in the PL at the expense of EL progression!
Seriously, one look at a match thread will show how passionate we are about our team and how utterly disappointed and angry we get when things are not going well in the PL. I therefore cannot see how dropping the PL as a priority is going to be any good for us fans…..and the players/manager/club who will pick up on the negativity. Also, the media will have a field day, just to compound the problem!
Jose does now have a very difficult balancing act to contend with, but under no circumstances should he sacrifice PL points for the EL. Surely good form and results in the league will help us in the EL anyway?

Gezza-Spurs. I doubt Jose will favour one or the other, or at least not yet. He is a manager that has been well used to chasing more than one trophy a season, so with a fully fit squad, no reason to sacrifice anything just yet. Obviously if CL qualification via a top four place, is out of reach completely, and say Spurs are in a Europa semi or Final, then he would obviously prioritise Europa.
At this moment in time though I expect Jose to field strong teams in both competitions.

I'm not sure what comments you've read Gazza? I saw one saying 'I'm not bothered about the league' I kind of see the the logic in that. Winning the Europa is better than just finishing 4th, and obviously we get CL anyway.
Our key players are playing 3 games a week and will do for a while yet.. if it comes down to it I'd rather have Toby/Bale/Hojbjerg fully fit for a latter stages cup game even if it meant resting them in the league.

I agree with you and you make complete sense. I suppose my point is that the same people that say "I'm not bothered about the league" are the same ones that will be spitting feather if/when we drop points in the league!

We should be aiming to win every game between now and the end of the season, none of this well we might beat em. Loads of points up for grabs and 2 cups.

I would agree with this as long as everyone in the squad is fit.
However, Bale and Kane are both prone to injuries.
Should that happen, expect to see Mourinho prioritize the competitions, with Europa first.
