Rashford

I don’t remember having seen a worse 90mn performance by a United player. The problem is that he didn’t seem to care. That’s exactly what happens when a promising young player is hailed by the fans as a hero. Rashford needs a better coaching staff, because he’s been regressing for quite a while.

Serious question Paul - how old are you?

Aren't you a bit board of this schoolboy act now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He thinks it's good WUMing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly, what drives a man to post such inane drivel? I am assuming that he is an adult, as he's been at this for years, so he must be over 18 by now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's of an age when City were Div 3 and Man United ruined his life. So still very much a Bitter Bertie Blue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I just don't get what a grown man gets out of posting stuff like that. Its not funny and serves no purpose. Why bother?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He doesn’t even compare to the posting of kash and Billy The Yidd. Paul does actually post some things about football that doesn’t leave you despairing for the human race, unlike those two.

I don't think this is his level as someone suggested earlier. Clearly he is underperforming to what he is capable of. You only have to look at his stats this season compared to last - 17 goals in 31 last season, and 9 in 27 this. Looks like he's just taken his eye off the ball and regressed.

It’s not really a case of taking his eye off the ball. There’s more to it than that. He’s not been the same since his back injury, and since returning has played non-stop without much rest.

Hasn’t helped that Martial’s form has gone to shiiiit either. One of the most promising things about last season was their development as a partnership.

Fear is driving Ole's management. He's going out to not lose games, rather than to win them. Shocking that a club the size of utd should have that outlook. You have top 4 players, although the mentality of some of them is open to question. You don't have an elite quality manager, though.

Whether it's the nature of this season, the fixture congestion, his injury last season, his off-field stuff, whatever it is, I think we can see that he's underperforming compared to what he's capable. I was expecting 20 league goals or more from him this season.

Coaching may be part of it too. I can't help thinking if he was under Guardiola, Pep would get more out of him like he did with Sterling.

But that’s not taking his eye off the ball. I think this season has shown a lot of players are underperforming as well. Sterling is a good example, and he hasn’t had any of the same issues Rashford has had to deal with.

I’d have loved to see Rashford come through as a young player under Pep. And Martial. They’d have ended up much better players I reckon.

When you have a manager that looks like he can't quite believe his luck that he is in charge of United it's inevitable that the players looked like they couldn't quite believe that they were top of the league.

Poor mentality all round.

Well we don't know if he's taken his eye off the ball or not. Maybe it's to do with him losing focus, and maybe there are other reasons behind it. But from the outside it's what it looks like because his form has gone down from last season.

We don’t know for sure, but we can make informed judgements based off what we know. He’s taken his eye off the ball or lost focus are just cliches for when a player has a drop in form. There are more reasonable explanations that relate to his physical condition, a slight change of role, the form of his teammates and the team as a whole. Rashford didn’t even return to the team in the same form last season as he was in before his back injury.
