He is not Abramovich, but at the same time he is not Mike Ashley
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is spot on. He gets a lot of flack, some of it deserved, but he is nowhere near as bad as people make out.

He couldn’t do anything about Sissoko’s first minute handball, or the fact the players slept-walked through that game. Or the time our players gave up with ten games to go and came third in a two horse race.

He’s made mistakes for sure (not backing poch when he needed it) but we’re a fan base who now expect top four and CL and feel we should be winning things. That wasn’t the case when he took over. In general terms he has progressed us and I don’t see how anyone can argue otherwise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have no major problem with Levy. In truth he has been very good for the club financially. We are lacking a Director of Football that he respects. If we got this it would transform the club. Levy could finally step away from footballing side of things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is something AVB and even Harry mentioned it I think and Jol of course Poch too. We need to take Levy out of transfer dealings and let a DoF in charge of it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have had the likes of Comolli and Baldini, who oversaw some disastrous acquisitions and who were largely poor in the transfer market. David Pleat also apparently recommended Sanchez, and he has not exactly turned into what we all expected he would. The best we had was probably Arnesen, but he soon jumped ship when more money came calling.

Levy loves the wheel and deal of it all.
He cant get along with a dof or people in similar position.

This guy loves to wheel and deal too, and is very proud of it...

The 1 trophy so far in Levy's reign is the Carling/Carabao cup.

Not a Premier League title

Not a Champions League

Not a UEFA/Europa League

Not even an FA Cup

But a solitary Carabao/Mickey Mouse Cup

Oh yeah I forget we also won a Peace Cup and Audi Cup...

A horrible ROI

The stadium is definitely his legacy. We did have to sacrifice some spending on players but in time that stadium should help propel us into the top tier of teams.

I'm as facked off as anyone about the way he has handled footballing decisions over the last few years, but overall he has helped put us in a much better situation as a club than when he took over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I reckon that's a decent summary.

All I'd add is that while he's made a bunch of mistakes but he's also made some really good footballing decisions. Fundamentally, the football getting better has enabled us to build the stadium and everything. It's not like the money come from him or Joe.

Joe's not putting anything in the kitty.
He said so recently.
On the footballing side I'll give him a plus for
NDombele
Reguilon,
Lo Celso,
Bale.
And a minus for
Doherty,
Aurier,
Rodon,
The wrong Fernandes,
Sanchez,
And lets see if he can keep Kane and Son.

Rodon? But early for that I reckon

Anyway, I'm talking about more than the current playing squad.

I won't live that long!
I want us to win something now, while I'm around!
Levy is good at building stadia (stadiums to most of the readers on here!).
Levy is probably not trusted by the bankers as regards delaying payments.
And he is only 50/50 at getting top class players...... has a penchant for Cheapos due to his constant philosophy about the marketplace being "overpriced".
Is the market for players overpriced?

To my mind a player is always worth...
* not what Levy will pay for him,
* not what Bayern Munich or Real Madrid will pay for him,
* but what he will do for Tottenham Hotspur, the squad on the pitch, winning games, not the income generating entity.

And so I think Upamecano would have been worth 5 Wrong Fernandes.
But Daniel Levy does not think that way, not at all! Which is why Tottenham is very unlikely to win the Premiership until ENIC sells out.

We should have won it when Leicester did. That's not Levy's fault. The fact we're even close to competing regularly for the top 4 and talking about players like Dybala and Upamecano is down to Levy.

True, the year Leicester won the Prem was our best chance to win it.
But the fact that we only think about top four rather than about top, is also down to Levy.
