Martial is a better footballer than rashford - he's just not a centre forward.

As for fred. He's better than today. But even on a bad day like today he was better than mctominay.

That being said, they were both very much in the mix against some of the best players in the league.

Should’ve scored. Thought that was really poor from him. Lost possession too easily in the middle of the park too often. Better from him though. Looked like he had a point to prove.

That's what you see when you watch the game with hating eyes. What about the penalty and the numerous sublime moves he made precisely in the middle of the park?

Hating eyes? He got bundled off the ball several times in the middle of the park and missed a sitter. He gave away possession trying a ridiculous back heel in our own half. He played better than he has for weeks, but ffs don’t sugar coat it in to something it wasn’t. It was better, it wasn’t brilliant.

He played well but he now needs to back it up. Its no good to have 5 bad games for every 1 good game.

Rashford has been bad as well. His decision making has been dismal. He should be told he needs to do the opposite of what he is thinking.

Rashford offers us far more than Martial. Their big game record for one is chalk and cheese. Rashford has often done the business against Liverpool and City. They are just different sort of players. Martial is more tidy but Rashford doesn't go hiding and usually gets more goal and assist returns.

The criticism of Martial this season has been more than fair this season. No need to apologise for it.
He didn’t score, missed from point blank, and still walked away with MotM.
If he had been consistent, with the odd bad game, we wouldn’t be on his neck.
Hopefully he finishes the season strong. Plenty of games left for him to turn it around.

No mate. I get that people are happy that he had a decent game yesterday, and stats are really useful to highlight the things he did well. You think I watched him through hateful eyes, but not so. Martial used to be the one player in our team that would get me off my seat. I thought he had the world at his feet. But he’s just turned into an average player sadly. Here’s some stats, he has 4 goals and 3 assists for the season (and 2 of those were against Southampton when they were dead and buried and down to 9 men). Not very good. If Rashford had missed the sitter that Martial missed yesterday, you would have done an article entitled Gashford. More stats, Rashford had 9 goals and 7 assists in a season where he’s often played out of position to accommodate Martial. Martial got bundled off the ball in his own half 3 or 4 times yesterday. Each time going down looking for a foul he was never going to get. He might not have ‘passed’ the ball to the opposition, but he still relinquished possession.

He played far better yesterday than he has in weeks, the little cameo against Southampton aside. A d I’m happy he did. If he can put in 7/10 performances week in week out then we’ll be challenging far better than we are. But that’s all yesterday was for me, a 7/10 performance. He wasn’t ‘brilliant’. He hasn’t been all season.
