Chris Wilder

Sheffield will be sacking him later today, bit of a stupid decision no? If they cared about survival they should have binned him off months ago.

Seems a crap decision to string the guy along after the good work he put in last season for them. Burnley went down with Dyche and he brought them back up straight away. I thought that's the strategy Sheffield were also going with.

avoids getting the "R" on his CV

I think they massively overachieved last season, and this season is about how I expected their previous one to be

doesnt say there he is being sacked, it says he is set to leave his role
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Potato potato
----------------------------------------------------------------------
not really.

its been mentioned from a few sources that he has had issues with the owners.

he may well have been sacked, or he could just as easily have resigned
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Does it really matter?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Id say so... if you went for a job interview would it better to say you resigned from your last job or was sacked?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't say that really applies to football managers.

I bet the statement from the club will read ‘by mutual consent’.

Means they can get someone in and have a good look at the players before the summer window I guess.

They won't come back up for a while now, unless the recruitment properly improves. Their squad is bottom half of the championship quality

They are doomed. Sacking him won't affect that. I believe it is felt - among other stuff - that he hasn't bought well. So it makes sense to get rid before the inevitable drop and rebuilding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a bit silly to be feeling that now when the season is nearly over, everyone knew Sheffield were doomed when they didn't win their first PL match until December
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be fair, any team relying on goals from Oli McBurnie, Ollie Burke and Rhian Brewster to keep them up is fooked before they start. Worst "striker" options in Prem history? Can't be far off.

Blowing that much cash on Brewster was a horrible decision

It was obvious they had a squad of Championship players really throughout, quality was always going to be an issue this season, like it is with many teams like themselves in the second season as their core values achieved so much last season.

I understand the Owner's point of view, he has put a fair bit of money into the club in the summer, but Wilder is also right in saying it was never going to be enough and I think recruitment has to take some of the blame here, spending large amounts of money on the likes of Brewster who was untried at this level as well as Ramsdale who, again, is likely Championship quality, is a mistake within itself.

It's obvious they are preparing for the Championship now, as we all probably knew after game 10 in the season anyway. I hope for the club's sake they don't turn out to be like Huddersfield.

Wilder spent big on a few strikers and they've all been rubbish. 23m on Brewster when they could have gotten better with slightly more?
Ramsdale isn't good at this level as would have been seen from last season. Injuries didn't help either. But if they were to survive, they needed to spend wisely and they haven't.

I read an article earlier today where it says he is leaving due to the fact he doesn't agree with the owners desire to bring in a director of football who would be in charge of recruitment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough. Wilder’s recruitment had been rubbish and someone else in charge would require him to drop all his loyal League one remnants that got him to the PL
