Met police

What are they smoking down there in London?

A vigil held for a woman allegedly murdered by a police officer, and they turn up heavy handed. Absolutely no self awareness.

The scenes last night were an absolute disgrace and shows the police don’t have the ability to handle the huge amount of power they’ve been given under the covid bill.

Heads need to roll, starting with Priti Patel.

People in the police are not necessarily thick. They were just bullied at school and rejected by women so craved power to compensate for this. It's a bit presumptuous to suggest they didn't get good grades.

These people were warned they would be fined if they broke the rules but turned up anyways
...

They didn’t just fine them though did they?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
so when they’re told to go home and refuse what do want the police to do
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not force a peaceful vigil to turn violent? Just a thought.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair some of them were carrying tea lights could cause all sorts of harm with them
----------------------------------------------------------------------

People want to break the law. Fine! face the consequences. Whats the difference between last night's gathering and an illegal rave of 100s of people in these covid lockdown times? Nothing.

Surely, just "because they are women" is the exact argument that those wanting equality would be arguing against
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, it was outside for a start off.
I would have thought the chances of finding drugs, drunkenness was unlikely.
The organisers wanted to liaise with the police, unlike rave organisers.
There's three differences of the top of my head.

Never having lived in London I know little about the Met, but all my live I've found the police to be excellent.
But last night they got it wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Outside inside who gives a fack, we have restrictions in place because of a global pandemic.

Get over yourself and play by the rules, if you don’t expect the police to move you on.

It’s not like they weren’t warned ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what you're saying is, you're not allowed to protest because the police tell you so, what if you're protesting them? As in this case, at least partially. Oh and please look up what the word 'tautology' means, the only thing more brain meltingly annoying than people using covid as an excuse for near enough everything is when people write or say it incorrectly. To be fair, the press are the worst culprit for this, "global pandemic" indeed!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes it’s against law.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How succinctly put, a shame its wrong though, against the rules yes, illegal, no. The fact that any 'civilised' society should be able to protest against the police seems to be lost on you for some reason. You can't write or think coherently, a police officer by chance? Also, is that the only post you've ever put on here without an emoji? Other than the reply obviously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cry me a river will you, these measures are in place because of a pandemic.
Write or think coherentlyAnd all coppers are thick right, well obviously not as smart as a hard man keyboard warrior like yourself who resorts to personal insults because of a difference of opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A global pandemic you mean? I didn't resort to personal insults, I asked a question and pointed out a fact. These measurements are in place and accepted because people cannot see beyond themselves and their own situations, hence a minority complain and get insulted. I didn't, at any point provide an opinion, until just then, I was just asking questions. The fact that you decided, straight away to go on the offensive says more about you than me to be fair. Keyboard warrior eh!? What a strange way to take an interested party.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Offensive by stating we have restrictions in place, really offensive that

I can’t write or think coherently not a personal insult these days

Carry on hard man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Offensive by lazily calling me a keyboard warrior, when I've given no such impression. The fact that you can't write or think coherently isn't an insult, it's just an observation, one which anybody who has read your posts would understand, you are just so achingly dull and obvious, in everything you post, it's kind of hard work to even read, you're that thick. That's an insult by the way, in case you're struggling. I was mainly just bored after work, hence the comments, I'm surprised that people can't engage in debate without emojis or instant insults, not great ones I grant you. On to "hard man" what does that even mean?! Are you coming on to me, or is it the usual, not smart enough to debate, so deflection will do?

Maybe I've misunderstood what a Internet hard man is. I assumed it was swearing idiots with nothing to offer, perhaps it's someone who points out some faults in an argument. My bad apparently.

I support the Met police action. They are mandated to uphold the law. It is usually a thankless task. In many situations, like this last one, they have to deal with an over-excited and often incited group of people who are breaking the law. Whether people agree with a law or not the police are duty bound to enforce it. They usually do this with remarkable restraint unless a superior officer decides that the situation is untenable and the safety of members of the public and the police are at serious risk. It doesn't matter if you are terrorists or a mindless herd of protesters, those officers do their job.
My vote goes to the police
