VAR

The worst thing to have happened to football in the last 50 years.
Get rid. It is ruining the game. I would prefer to see two linesmen on each side of the pitch, one for each end. They have to do more running than the ref and.most of the players to keep up with play. They could keep up and negate the need for goal-line technology. The toenail/eyebrow decisions from VAR are ridiculous.
Did Collinari need VAR? Is the quality of referees so poor now that they need it? It has ruined the game and.post-match pub debates. Your goal should not be disallowed because your boot-size is one more than the defender's.
If every time you went to work and had someone looking over your shoulder who tried to overrule a choice you made, despite your years of experience, how would you feel?
A good ref watches what is happening in the game and uses his judgement. It is not as easy as a one-off incident that tv analysts drool and expound over. How many tv pundits hold a refereeing qualification that would make their comments vaild?

Agree with Op. I was supportive, but I'd rather endure a few wrong decisions than this complete bucket of shieyte. Drains the joy out of it. Even worse if you are in the stadium (fat fecking chance).

I'd scrap VAR tomorrow, in fact today but not the worst thing to happen.
Garth Crooks getting a job on the BBC has to be up there!

So you have never held any kind of position of responsibility then.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

More than you will ever hold most likely.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most unlikely I reckon. Anyone who comes out with some of the drivel you do can't have been more than trainee apprentice temporary part- time poop-scooper in a cow pasture where the residents could hold a more intelligent and polite conversation than you are able to.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

That would most likely give me more responsibility than you have ever had if drivel was the marker. Two linesmen on each side of the pitch being a perfect example.

Minus the hyperbole I agree with the OP.
The linesmen only patrol half a pitch, it should work I think

The only way I can see two linesman per half working is if you split the pitch into quadrants, but that seems like its a lot more hassle than its going to be worth.

You know the old saying: it's a game of four quadrants.

personally, I think the fundamental issue with VAR is the rampant rule changes of ridiculous things, both before and during a season. Why can't the powers that be think about how rules may be controversially implemented before that controversy arises?

Have offsides so they are done by feet or head or whatever, but certainly not armpit. Don't particularly mind handball where its if the ball is away from the body, but clearer definitions of what unnatural positions mean would do the world of good.

If at the time the ball is played the attacking player has a foot behind the defending player, it should be offside!..

It shouldn't matter where the rest of the body is because its not controlling the feet, its keeping the movement and balance of the body going, the same as falling under a train!..

They can pick out when a finger is out of line, so they should be able to see a foot which should be the marker for an offence if one is to be seen!..

I believe var can be a good thing if done correctly....spotting.obvipus errors. If your have to draw a million lines in the screen to try and determine if someone is onside then obviously its not a clear and obvious error and original decision should stand.

Its not being used for clear and obvious errors, its being used for everything. That's whats making a mockery of it
