How is he still our manager?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said winning the Europa League would not be a mark of progress for Manchester United and believes trophies are "an ego thing" for some managers.

"In the league position you see if there’s any progress. For me, that’s always the bread and butter of the season, that you see how capable you are of coping with ups and downs. Any cup competition can give you a trophy but sometimes it’s more of an ego thing for other managers and clubs to finally win something"

This loser needs to be booted out of the club asap. His defeatist attitude is even worse than Moyes who said we needed to look up to City. I know our resident boomers will end up supporting Ole till death but we all know boomers know fack all.

Ole out asap

Over two years is plenty of time to know whether he’s good or not.

And he has been so far. Let's hope for even better in the future. Something we can all agree on

Well they have given him £275m or there abouts so far. That could easily have been £350m if we'd have got Sancho. Not really sure how you can say that the club don't think there is a rebuild considering the number of players that have left and joined and the money spent.

Last summer wasn't great. 2 kid wingers, a free injury prone forward, a back up lb and cm. We await to see what happens this summer.

But I don't think that was due to a lack of backing. We just couldn't reach an agreement with Dortmund.

I see people on this thread using Moyes as a comparable, so why not Fergie?
———
Because Ole’s closer to Moyes in managerial ability than he is Fergie.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That would be Moyes who has West Ham competing for European football, the same Moyes who despite a blip and knock to his confidence in taking on and losing the United job has had a very respectable career as a manager. Given all that transpired I often wonder if we’d be any worse off now if we had stuck with Moyes for the 6 years of his contract and given him time to move on Fergie’s lot and build his own team.

Yeah would certainly be interesting to see what would if transpired. . Woodward was even worse than useless back then too, ole had had that part a good bit easier..Will never know now.

Always wondered what would have happened if you’d given him another couple of years. I do think he’s savvy enough to have developed a fair bit more than he got chance to, he was still in the trying to manage a bigger version of what he already knew mode.

Yep, it would seem so.

Yeah I’ll always have a little bit of sympathy for Moyes, he was doomed to failure the second he got the job. He’s a solid manager and I’m sure had he been given the 6 years he would have improved and having a slightly more competent Woodward would have helped. But I doubt he would have taken us to the level we expect and so he would have ultimately failed but we’ll never really know.
