Really sad to hear the news of the passing of Frank Worthington.
He was a little bit before my time watching Leicester, but the stories of his exploits were already the stuff of legend on the terraces at Filbert Street. Those who saw him play say that he was one of the most skilful players we’ve ever had. Apparently he was quite a character too.
Thoughts are with his friends and family.
RIP Frank Worthington

My memories of Worthington are both happy and sad.
I never got to see him play live as I was just too young, but I’ve heard the stories and seen the videos. He must have been an absolute joy to watch.
Then as a former player, we’d often see Frank at the service station on the way down to Wembley and he’d just join in and be one of us. Loved posing for pics and even joined in when we were chanting his name.
Then the sad side. I lived in Yorkshire for a while and I’d often see him in the bookies near Halifax. He looked a shall of his former self and just went about un-noticed as a regular punter that spent too much time gambling. I didn’t want to disturb him to chat about the “good old days”, it didn’t feel right. I stand to be corrected but I think he was a Huddersfield fan.
RIP Franky Wortho - the true definition of an enigma, but a definite Leicester legend.

From Sam Allardyce’s throw I believe.
Once he had that ball under control it was difficult to get it off him.

Before my time, but I can see how much he was loved from the reactions of others. He certainly comes across as a character from a different era. Would such a character make it in these days of professionalism and athleticism? Maybe not; at least not in the same way. But on the same lines, maybe football is lesser for it.

What sad news,
Like many here I was lucky to see him play
How many over head kick goals did he have
Disallowed for leaning into the defender?
