Footballs Darkest secrets

A real hard and difficult watch this, but one I suggest everyone with an interest for justice should watch. It makes you wonder how in the hell did this stuff go on undetected for years in the 70s/80s ? Probably even before that.

An era, where this sort of thing was just brushed under the carpet. Absolutely sickening. Some of these footballers coming out and speaking are incredibly brave individuals. It must of been so hard for them as grown men now with kids etc, to relive that horrendous part of their youth where they were abused by these 2 monsters.

One of our own Paul Stewart was in the 1st episode and it was incredibly emotional listening to his account. Much respect to you Paul and all the other victims. I hope you all find peace. For anyone interested, it’s on BBC catch up and is a 3 parter documentary.

Listening to Stewart talk about how he was snorting cocaine before his England debut and being drunk at his first England team meeting due to being sexually abused was tough. Shame the man who did it died before he could face the consequences.

Yes totally agree but could you blame him ? What he was going through with that abuse for so long was horrendous

Don't blame him whatsoever.

Didn't the abuser threaten to kill his Mum, Dad and brothers if he said anything?

Yeh he did, sickening

Absolutely disgusting what went on. The ones in power who knew something was going on and did nothing are nearly as bad sickening.
Very brave of Andy Woodward to speak out his actions know doubt have saved lives in helping victims come forward rather than be alone.
Felt so sad for our own Paul Stewart.

Exactly. The ones in power should be ashamed.

Peados should be publicly stoned to death, woman beaters and rapist also.
They don't face any real justice, they get banged up with all the numptys, and get an easy bit of bird.

I'd like to think they may get some boiling hot sugar thrown in their faces by one of the fellow inmates.

Watched the 2nd and 3rd episodes last night on the iPlayer. Harrowing watch.

Whilst the club's (and FA's) failures were well documented, the mindset of those who had been abused was horrific. In that for years they had a mental block, not just to defend their abusers. But also to support them.

Gives an idea on how the abusers got into the conscious and unconscious mindset of their victims.

That sounds crazy. The hold these people had over their victims. Seems to happen quite often, you can't imagine the mental torture (aside from the physical) that goes on

Very brave for those players to talk about these issues and encourage others to come forward.
Very sad the way Paul Stewart spoke and the others
especially after winning the FA cup and getting an England call up
